Bathrooms: ALL bathrooms, regardless of location, fixtures, or window location, should have vent fan/light combos. They should be wired so that if A SINGLE light in the bathroom is turned on, the fan turns on as well so that mildew and mold do not have a chance to form. This can be accomplished with a pigtail from both light switches, to the fan.
The vent should be vented to the exterior of the house. This should either go through the roof of the house, in the hard pipe wrapped with insulation or, through the wall, in the hard pipe.
In retrofit situations, it is OK to run EMT to the vent fan and expose the vent pipe.
It may be easiest to mount the fan on an exterior wall.
you can also use a through the wall vent like shown below.
Example of hard pipe for vent fans in bathrooms
Attics should have adequate venting. There are very few instances where there will be a powered vent fan, as there should be passive roof vents.
If a roof vent is installed, it should have a fuse in it to keep it from accelerating. A potential house fire should be controlled by a labeled switch or be on a dedicated circuit labeled for this use. It should also be on a thermostat so that the roof does not vent with a temperature of less than 85 degrees.
Crawl Space: When turning a crawl space into an “encapsulated crawl space,” which utilizes heavy amounts of foam board and spray foam, please install a humidity-controlled vent fan to keep moisture from building up. There will be no crawl space vents anymore, so this is very important.
When ordering these fans, tag "burr oak capital- online orders" in coconstruct, and request that they order the fan for you. This will be delivered to your house. you just create a to do, and tag "online orders" in the comments, and ask them to order what you need.you just create a to do, and tag "online orders" in the comments, and ask them to order what you nee
VENT FAN IN CONDITION CRAWL SPACE
If there's a condition crawl space there needs to be a vent going to the crawl space .
A vent fan in a conditioned crawl space helps to maintain a healthy and comfortable environment by controlling moisture, improving air quality, regulating temperature, and reducing the risk of radon infiltration.
If there isn't a vent in the crawl space, we just need to be a vent going into the crawl space from the regular floor.
ROOF VENT FANS: Install a powered fan on a switch (that is labeled) in the middle of the eastern facing part of the roof It should be set to come on whenever the temperature is 100 degrees. VENT FANS SHOULD BE INSTALLED ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE HOUSE THAT THE SUN SETS ON (generally, the eastern side).
Vent Covers
They should all be in an appropriate functional state. When buying new, get white color. If the old covers are not bent or significantly rusted, you may clean them and spray paint with a Rust-oleum Product that has a primer in it.
A booster fan boosts heated or cooled air to improve circulation and comfort.
They can be used in rooms (like in attics) that don't get as good of temperature control as the rest of the house.
