WINDOWS
All windows should be double-hung and in operable condition. If a window is a wood, replace it, as we only use vinyl windows. If a seal in the window is cracked, have the window repaired.
ALL WINDOWS MUST OPEN, SHUT, AND LOCK. You may use windows of any color, so long as it is in our Approved Color Sheet. Our default color is white.
We usually order windows from Window World (create a bid request to order)
Timeframe for window ordering from Window World:
For the initial installation of the windows for 1212 North Court, we paid the deposit for the windows on 4/19/22, and the final installation was completed on 9/26/22. This process can take roughly up to 5 months.
Windows should be properly wrapped when installed. This is to be priced into the cost of the window installation.
Window egress is of the UTMOST IMPORTANCE. All windows should be egress rated when needed - when changing the use of a room to a bedroom. If the use was already a bedroom, an egress window is not required. When considering egress, there must be egress in a bedroom. This is defined as an egress window OR an exterior door. When remodeling older houses, if a window is 3 feet or less from the property line, the size of a window cannot be increased. It may, however, be turned or made smaller. If the property line is more than 3 feet away from the window, you may make the opening bigger to accommodate egress. PLEASE consider this when ordering windows.
EGRESS WINDOWS NEED 5.7 square feet of openable space and should be NO MORE than 44’’ from the ground.
We cannot build a bedroom without a means of egress.
You may also use a tilting style or “casement” window when a window is too small for egress, these allow for more window area to be used for Egress.
When window are is too big and odd size that we would have to order you can always make the windows smaller. Check sample sample pictures below as to how you can trim it out
This is how you can make a window opening size smaller. This is useful if you are removing a large window and replacing it with a smaller window, for example in a kitchen or bedroom.
How to use Window Screen Repair Tape
Using a window screen repair tape is a straightforward process. Here are the steps to effectively repair a damaged window screen with repair tape:
Window screen repair tape
Scissors
Measuring tape or ruler (optional)
Clean the Screen:
Clean the area around the tear or hole in the window screen to ensure that the tape adheres properly. Use a damp cloth to wipe away any dirt or debris and let it dry completely.
Measure the Tear:
Measure the size of the tear or hole to determine how much repair tape you will need. It's a good idea to cut a piece of tape that is slightly larger than the tear on all sides to ensure complete coverage.
3. Cut the Tape:
Cut the repair tape to the required size using scissors. If the tape is pre-cut, select a piece that is appropriately sized for the tear.
4. Position the Tape:
Carefully position the cut piece of tape over the tear or hole. Ensure that it is centered over the damaged area.
5. Apply the Tape:
Press the tape firmly onto the screen, starting from the center and working your way out to the edges. This helps to remove any air bubbles and ensures a smooth application.
6. Secure the Edges:
Ensure that the edges of the tape are firmly pressed down to prevent them from peeling away over time. You can use your fingers or a flat tool to press the edges securely onto the screen.
7. Check for Adherence:
After applying the tape, check to make sure it is securely attached to the screen and there are no loose edges.
Work in a well-lit area to ensure you can see the tear and apply the tape accurately.
For larger holes or tears, you might need to apply multiple pieces of tape or consider replacing the screen if the damage is extensive.
Choose a repair tape that matches the color and material of your screen for a more seamless look.
By following these steps, you should be able to effectively repair small tears or holes in your window screen using repair tape.
