Fixes/Changes

Assessments

  1. Based on guidance from OCTAE, a change was made in the PoP logic to allow a gain in PoP 2 based on a pretest in PoP 1 that was not used for a PoP 1 gain.

For example, in this scenario the student will get an EFL gain in both PoP 1 and PoP 2:

  • Student is assessed in Reading and Math, and is placed in PoP 1 with Reading as the PoP subject area.

  • The last activity in PoP 1 is hours.

  • Student returns after a 90+ day gap and is in PoP 2.

  • There are no assessments between the first hours date and the PoP 2 start date.

  • Student is assessed in Reading and Math in PoP 2 and makes a gain in both subject areas.

  • Reading populates a gain in PoP 1.

  • Since Math was not used to get a gain in PoP 1, it is "pulled forward" as the pre and post test for PoP 2, with a gain in PoP 2.

Imports

  1. Imports have been corrected to match existing records that include accented characters. When an import contains a record with an accented character that matches an existing record in LACES, the existing record will be updated. For example:

A student with the name "John Doe" in LACES is able to be matched with the name "John Dóe" on an import.

Searches

  1. A Current FY filter has been added at the “All IETP Measurable Skills Gains” area to filter by IETP Measurable Skills Gains records with start date in the current FY. The filter may be removed to display all records, and added by clicking the >Searches link, expanding the General category, and selecting Current Fiscal Year.

  2. Students with a user-created Diploma Credential Type choice list option indicating NRS reporting eligibility were not being returned on the student search Adult Education Follow-Up > Secondary School Diploma Earned. This has been corrected.

  3. Searches for names with accent marks were not being returned. This has been corrected. For example:

Searching for "López" or "Lopez" will return records with the name "López."

NRS Table 9

  1. Students were incorrectly included on Table 9 for prior year outcomes if their Secondary Program in the current FY year is IELCE. This has been corrected so students will count on the 21/22 Table 9 based on being IELCE at the time of exit.

Freeze Date Reminders

Towards the end of the fiscal year, ABE state directors designate a "freeze" date. This date is added to the User News page. 7 and 3 days prior to the freeze date, as well as the day of the freeze, a post login message will display reminding you of the schedule. Freezes take place outside of business hours so you have the day of the freeze to finish entering data.

"Freeze" means that the current FY summaries cannot be updated by the user. Any data entered after the freeze date will not be captured in the student FY summary, which may affect reporting, so it important to make sure all of your data for the reporting year is entered prior to the freeze date.
