Meeting notes - September 30, 2016

The meeting was held a Carol Causey's house. President Kris Peerand called the meeting to order at 10:20 a.m.There were 2 visitors, Joyce Hollgate, of Suisun City, and her daughter-in-law, Jeanne. Both plan on joining.

CNCH Reports:

Susie Hodges reports we need 250 lanyards for Conference attendees. Susie will email patterns if you ask her. Lanyards need to be 36" - 40" plus fringe. Can be inkle, kumihimo, etc.

Announcements:

Lillian is celebrating 45 years of weaving by giving each member one of her cards.

Joan Anderson tells us there will be a bead show in November 11 - 13 at the Oakland Convention Center. Classes and shopping opportunities.

Susie Hodges told us about Loom & Shuttle Guild's exhibit at Sanchez Art Center in Pacifica. It will be held 1/13 - 2/12/17. The theme is "Woven Together: Experience and Expression".

Joan Leon has an 8 shaft Schacht high castle loom for sale. Joan Leon - 708-714-4135 or gypsieladie@hotmail.com. $1100.

Redwood Guild of Fiber Arts is having a sale on 10/29/16, 10 am - 5 pm at the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts in the Fireside Room . 50 Mark West Spring Rd., Santa Rosa

CNCH Liaison Report

Vilija reported Penny Peters gave a very enthusiastic presentation about the 2017 conference at Asilomar. Registration opens Nov. 12, 2016 and is only on line. Booklets are available for everyone and information also available on line. There are lots of great classes and teachers. The keynote speaker is very good.

Conference grant scholarships are available, one for each area, and are not need based. Information will be on line. Applications are due Nov. 14, 2016. The application is a fillable on line form. To apply, pay the $350 registration fee. If selected, your registration fee will be refunded.

2018 Conference news: There was supposed to be a full conference year. Location had been selected, and plans were moving ahead. But HGA will be hosting Convergence 2018 in our area. The location has not yet been disclosed, but is somewhere between Sacramento and Reno. The board has decided the financial risk to too great to host our own conference in the same area. Be prepared to volunteer with Convergence .
