Meeting notes October 2015
Diablo Weavers Guild
October 23, 2015
President Kris Peerand opened the meeting. To change things up, we began with Show and Tell. Items of particular interest were a book shared by Tui. Called "Brettchenweben" or "Tablet Weaving", it is a wonderful book in German, French, English, and Dutch. For those interested in putting it on their "wish list", it is ISBN no. 978-3-00-047682-2, and can be ordered from brettchenweben.com.
Also of great interest was the Catherine Ellis woven shibori scarf shared by Carol de Boer. Find out more about purchasing these pre-woven shibori scarves at www.ellistextiles.com/resources/. These kits are woven for Catherine at The Oriole Mill, and you may enjoy visiting their website as well.
After sharing concluded guild business was done. First, the Treasurer's Report from Vilija Deutschman. The guild treasury has $1,240.68. Vilija passed the current bank statement for inspection, and also asked members to verify their contact information for the roster.
Next order of business was Programs. Up coming programs are:
Nov 13 2015 - Darryl Lancaster at Kris Peerand's club house.
Dec 2015 - Holiday potluck luncheon
Jan 2016 - Suzie Taylor - origami folds in fabric
Feb 2016 - TBA
Mar 2016 - Leon Mayeri - oriental rugs
Apr 2016 - TBA
May 2016 - TBA
June 2016 - Summer potluck picnic
Possible programs include Kris Peerand leading a program on different weaving software. And after Suzie Hodges shared some card woven bands done at Golden Gate Weavers, there was a lot of interest in having Suzie do a program on 8-card card weaving.
