Diablo Weavers Guild meets once a month, September through June, usually on the third Friday of the month.
New members and guests are always welcome.
In September, December and June we usually meet at a member's home.

Nancy Roberts will speak on using hand dyed machine knitted yarns for weaving and knitting.
Nancy is an experienced hand knitter who expanded her use of color by using machine knitted yarns to dye and create multiple colored yarns for use in hand knitting and weaving. She has taught many workshops and classes, including workshops at CNCH and Convergence and at the Richmond Art Center. She also has private classes at her studio in Berkeley.

Greetings Textilians,
I am teaching several workshops this coming season.
The first is Feb. 9 & 10, at the Walnut Creek Civic Arts Center: art-ed.org
We will focus on Itajime and carved clamp resist
We will produce samples and scarves with resist scouring and madder, a natural indigo vat, and experiments with fiber reactive dye and discharge
I will offer a 4 day shibori intensive in Sonoma county at the studio of Cheryl Brasswell, April 26-29
For a wonderful working vacation join me on Whidbey Island off of Seattle, July 22-26 at the PacificNorthwest Art Center
We will use direct application and shibori with natural dyes. We will experiment with thickened mordants and lemon juice mordant discharge

Fiber Arts Classes at the Richmond Art Center
Winter Classes:
WEAVING: Morning class with Jan Langdon is Tues (9:30 - 12:30). Evening class with Stacy Speyer is Tues (6:30 - 9:30). Both classes run from Jan 15 to March 19. Cost is $265 for RAC members and $295 for non-members. All skill levels are welcome.
INTRODUCTION TO FASHION DESIGN with Carol Wood is Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 9:30, Jan 23 to March 13. Cost is $158 for RAC members and $175 for non-members.
CODED KNITTING & WEARABLE ART with Amy Keefer is Fridays (10 -1) from Jan. 25 to March 1. Cost is $135 for RAC members and $150 for non-members.
Winter Workshops:
NATURAL DYE PRINTING with Rebecca Burgess is Sat, Feb.9 (9:30 -3). Rebecca will take students one step beyond her recent book and her very popular RAC summer class into ecologically friendly options for printing on fabric. Cost is $85 for RAC members and $95 for non-members.
INTRO TO WET FELTING with Kim Nelson is Sat, March 9 (10 -2). Learn current methods for wet felting and hear about current trends in this interesting craft. Class may be taken as an introduction to the chair workshop on the following weekend. Cost is $36 for RAC members and $40 for non-members.
FELTING - CUSTOM CHAIR SEAT UPHOLSTERY with Kim Nelson is Sat, March 16 (10 - 4) and Sun, March 17 (11-2). Learn how to make and install a felted chair seat on an old chair of your choice. Guidance on disassembling your chair will be provided along with a detailed supply list. Supply fee is $30 (less if student supplies wool). Students should be familiar with basic felting methods. Cost of this interesting class is $130 to RAC members and $145 to non-members.
