Meeting Notes November 2017

Diablo Weavers Guild

Meeting Notes

November 17, 2017

President Kris Peerand opened the meeting at 10:05 a.m. She welcomed 2 guests: Joella Trupin and Jan Thoele.

The meeting began with Show & Tell, then Kris thanked the organizers of our display currently at the Orinda Library, and complimented them on a great job. She encouraged everyone who had not been to see it to go.

Treasurer's Report: Vilija reported a balance of $1,288.32, When we changed banks last year, Vilija had to open it in her own name. She reports that it has now been updated and is in the name of Diablo Weavers Guild.

Programs: Reba is continuing to work on programs. Our next meeting will be the annual Holiday Luncheon. It will take place Friday, December 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. The meeting will be at Vilija's home. Please bring a dish for the Potluck Lunch, and a small gift for the gift exchange.

CNCH report: Our liaison, Maureen Miller, had nothing new to report. We need to decide on our guild contribution to goodie bags for Convergence 2018. Susie Hodges offered to bring samples of past projects and she will bring them to the December meeting for a final decision.

Joan Anderson had a report on CNCH 2019 conference. It is Area 5's turn to host, but due to the wildfires in October, where 8 of their members lost their homes, they do not feel they are in a position to plan. The advisory committee is planning to organize the conference and have Area 5 handle some of the smaller jobs. The committee is researching places to hold the conference. One possible venue is Sonoma State, with a conference date in June 2019.

Next topic for discussion was Study Groups. CNCH has proposed that study groups be formed. See the CNCH website for guide lines and information. Several different types of formats for running a study group were discussed. The consensus was that Diablo Weavers run an in-house study group the first year, and as we develop experience, perhaps open the study group to others in CNCH.

Maureen Miller is willing to run the study group. Proposed topics are Summer & Winter, or Tied Unit Weaves.

After a break, we watched a video, "Coton Jaune: A Cajun Love Story. Acadian Brown Cotton". On conclusion of the video, the meeting adjourned.
