Diablo Weavers Meeting Friday, June 18, 2021
Our June meeting will be at 10 am on Friday, June 18, the third Friday of the month. You will receive an email Zoom invite before then.
Program: The Silk Road
Take a virtual trip along the Silk Road of Asia. See how silk is processed by various families and craftsmen from cocoon to finished garment. Complex ikat is used on the warps and then it is dyed, prepared for weaving, etc. Join us to see the whole process.
Show and tell and business will be at the end of the meeting.
Sharing at our monthly meetings
Each month for sharing, photos for Diablo should be sent to Vilija by noon on the Thursday before each meeting. That gives her enough time to get the last minute ones in. The sooner, the better for her. However, she said that she can definitely handle “last minute”.
If members have a preference on how they want their pics shown, they should include info on that.

Diablo Weavers Study Group
STUDY GROUP
We will meet on June 25th at 10:00 am. Maybe ZOOM, maybe in person with appropriate Covid precautions (right now we only have one unvaccinated member). We will discuss our weavings inspired by Elisabeth Hill’s “Off the Grid” presentation. We have agreed that it is time to choose a new topic so we will bring in our hopes and wishes and come to a consensus on the new topic. Then we’ll come back three months later to do an in-depth show-and-tell. We learn a lot from each other. Some topics only last one or two meetings, some last longer.
If you are interested in joining us, email me at maureencmiller@comcast.net and I’ll add you to the mailing list. If you are currently on list and wish to be removed just let me know.

Gilmore Loom for sale
Gilmore Loom: 40 inch, 8 shaft and 12 treadles. This sturdy floor loom is in excellent condition. Built in 1973, it is likely to outlast me by several years. The loom is great for rugs and fine cloth. It holds excellent tension, has a good shed, and has been updated with removable breast beam, flipped back beam, and anti-spin kit for the brake as well as new webbing on cloth and warp beams.
Comes with many extras, including 8 dent SS reed, raddle, plenty of flat steel heddles, 5stick shuttles, 4 Gilmore boat shuttles, a beautiful rosewood ski shuttle, and a rag shuttle. Other extras include angle iron, 2 steel bars, and cable ties to anchor extra weight to the beater without making holes. It also comes with 2 lease sticks, an extra apron bar, and new texsolv cords and arrow pegs for all treadle attachments as well as unused treadle cords before Gilmore switched to texsolv.
Footprint is approximately 38 inches by 51 inches, including brake handle. The back beam folds up giving a size that will go through a regular door. Brake / warp beam and shafts remove for transport. Asking $1300, a great price for a very solid loom that I have really come to respect. Selling due to space limitations. Cash or PayPal, pick up in Grass Valley or possible meet up within an hour or so and with deposit.
