Meeting Notes Sept. 18, 2020

Diablo Weavers Guild

Meeting Notes

September 18, 2020 on Zoom

President Reba Siero welcomed everyone and opened the meeting at 10:05 a.m. Due to Covid-19 the meeting was held online on Zoom.

Treasurer’s Report: Treasurer Kris Peerand reported a balance of $2,262.27 with approximately $1200 in checking and $1000 in savings. Kris also reminded us that our annual dues of $30 are now due.

The next order of business was election of officers. Reba presented the slate of officers for election. The officers are:

President: Reba Siero VP/Programs: Joan Anderson

Treasurer: Kris Peerand Secretary: Pam Murdock

Vilija Deutschman made a motion to accept the slate, and Andrea Quigley seconded the motion. The officers were voted in by a show of hands.

Programs: Joan Anderson told us about programs she is working on. She has been in touch with a weaving guild in Indianapolis regarding a presentation on gamps. She is waiting to hear back from them. She is also working on programs from Sally Breckenridge from Weave-It, videos from Tom Knisley, and in the spring, Elizabeth Hill.

CNCH: Reba told us that CNCH 2021 planning is going forward. The dates are July 9 – 11, 2021 at Cal Poly SLO. There will be a planning meeting 9/19/2020.

CNCH 2022 has begun planning also. If you have questions, please contact Reba or Maureen Miller. If you have suggestions for teachers at the CNCH 2022 conference, please tell Maureen Miller.

Member Announcements

Joan told us that Oct. 5 – 11 is Spinning and Weaving week. See the HGA website (weavespindye.org) for information

After the business meeting finished there was a presentation for Show and Tell.

Vilija Deutschman had previously requested photos of items members had made. She compiled the photos into a presentation. Having photos made it much easier to see the work rather than holding up items to the camera.

After general work was shown, we saw a slide presentation of projects from last year’s 5/2 cotton challenge.

At the end of the meeting, Reba told us she had reserved Zoom meetings for the 3rd Friday of each month through June 2021. The meeting room will open at 9:45 a.m.
