Mendoza to Bariloche in Northern Patagonia

April 28 – Mar 10, 2010

4.28 Day 1: BUENOS AIRES – MENDOZA Morning departure from airport Jorge Newbery[Buenos Aires] to Mendoza. After arrival, transfer to the hotel CLUB TAPIZ, Maipu, Gran Mendoza. www.tapiz.com.ar The hotel is in the middle of a vineyard and there is a wine cellar to visit. Lunch [not included. Afternoon free to enjoy the hotel and winery. Dinner included.

4.29 Day 2: MENDOZA Breakfast. Full day excursion visiting the city of Mendoza and Laguna del Rosario. In this desert town we will visit spinners and weavers, an adobe’s house a church and a museum. You will share time with and experience the work of the local native people. Lunch included. Return to the hotel. Dinner included.

4.30 Day 3: MENDOZA Breakfast. Full day excursion to High Mountain in the Andes. Return to hotel. Dinner included.

5.01 Day 4: MENDOZA – MALARGUE Breakfast. Leave with all luggage south to Malargue, 390 kilometers. Stop for lunch in San Rafael [not included]. Check into HOTEL GOLF RISCO PLATEADO. Dinner included. www.golfriscoplateado.com.ar

5.02 Day 5: MALARGUE Breakfast. Morning visit to spinners and weavers in the area. Afternoon excursion to Laguna Llancanello with its variety of birds. Return to hotel. Dinner included.

5.03 Day 6: MALARGUE – CHOS MALAL Breakfast. Leave will all luggage go Chosmalal, north of Neuquen Province, where the region of Patagonia begins. We will drive 220 km on National Route 40 arriving and checking in to HOSTERIA LA FARFALLA www.farfalla.com.ar Lunch not included. An afternoon visit to the village and to the local spinners of sheep’s wool. Dinner included.

5.04 Day 7 CHOS MALAL - JUNIN DE LOS ANDES Breakfast. Leave with all luggage to Junin de los Andes driving 350 km to the south of Neuquen Provinde, always near the Andes. Lunch stop in Zapala city for lunch [not included]. Arrive in the afternoon to HOSTERIA MILLA PLUKE. www.milla-piuke.com.ar Free afternoon. Dinner included.

5.05 Day 8 JUNIN DE LOS ANDES Breakfast. Full day excursion to a native community “Chiquilihuin” [mapuches – in their language. It means ‘people of the earth’] There are spinners and weavers and a special style of life on their mountain. Lunch included. Return to the hotel. Dinner included

5.06 Day 9 JUNIN DE LOS ANDES Breakfast. Excursion to the Huechulafquen Lake and Vulcano Lanin, into the National Park Lanin. Lunch included. Return in the afternoon with time to visit the village. Dinner included.

5.07 Day 10 JUNIN DE LOS ANDES – BARILOCHE Breakfast. Leave with all luggage to San Carlos de Bariloche. Stop in San Martin de los Andes to visit the picturesque city, in the mountains and in front of Lake Lacar. Continue to the Seven Lakes, an interesting road through the forest and past lakes. Stop for lunch [not included] in Villa La Angostura. Arrive and check in to HOTEL LIROLAY SUITES, situated on Lake Nahuel Huapi. www.lirolaysuites.com.ar Dinner included

5.08 Day 11 SAN CARLOS DE BARILOCHE Breakfast. In the morning, visit the city Bariloche, the Circuit Lao-Llao and Cerro Cathedral. Lunch not included. Afternoon visit to Spinner’s and Weaver’s Co-op of Steppe. Dinner included.

5.09 Day 12 SAN CARLOS DE BARILOCHE Breakfast. Excursion to the Cerro Tronador y Cascada do los Alerces [waterfall]. Tonight will be the last dinner of the tour [included]

5.10 Day 13 Breakfast and return to Buenos Aires. Add-on excursions can be made at extra costs: Ignazu Falls in Uruguay, or El Calafate in the south of Patagonia to visit the Perito Moreno Glacier.
