Diablo Weavers Guild meets in Walnut Creek, usually on the third or fourth Friday of the month from September through June, 10:00 am until noon or a little later. We do not meet in July and August.
New members and guests are welcome.
In September, December and June we meet at a member's home. Other meetings are usually held at the Thurman Casey Library in Walnut Creek (Ygnacio Valley Library).

Dues for the 2018-19 year, September - June, are $30 per person; $40 per family. If joining half way through the year, dues are $15.
September Meeting

Our first meeting of 2018-2019 will be at Lillian's home, at 10:00 am. on Friday September 21. Bring tales of summer projects and adventures, dues for the coming year, and items for an informal stash sale, with a portion of each sale to be donated to the guild. We will also have a sign up for snacks for the coming year.
If you attended Convergence in Reno, bring samples from your workshops.
We have dates for meetings and programs through November and others are being planned.
If you have ideas for a presentation or workshop please contact Reba. She is coordinating program topics and dates, but looking to members for ideas and help in developing programs.

Tools of the Trade Looms
A former member of Diablo needs to sell two looms as she is moving to Nevada City to be with her daughter.
The looms are Tools of the Trade. Daryl Lancaster has a couple of these looms.
45" 8 harness floor loom that collapses to get it through a door. Includes bench, reeds and other tools featured in one of the pictures.
25" 8 harness table loom and includes accessories and stand as pictured.

Nevada County Fiber Arts Trunk Show

Berkeley Horticultural Nursery
Berkeley Hort is pleased to have fiber artists from Nevada County join us again to share their hand-made items for perusal and purchase. From music to painting, fiber and other mediums, Nevada County offers some of the most original creative artists around.
There will be clothing, hand towels, scarves/shawls, yarn, blankets, rugs and more. This year’s trunk show will highlight plant-based dyes with a live demonstration of indigo dyeing by Eileen Lee (aka Mzfiber). If you’ve never seen the process, you’re in for a real treat – It’s like art and a magic trick all rolled into one. Persicaria tinctoria is the Japanese indigo that Eileen uses for dyeing. Native to Vietnam and China, the plant is a fast grower but frost sensitive. It requires rich compost and is happiest with a nitrogen based food. Indigo was originally used to dye denim jeans. Eileen worked for many years at Levi Strauss, so this is sort of a full circle for her.
During the event, the Oakland based husband and wife team from Okkon Japanese Street Food will be selling their okonomi yaki, a popular street food from Japan. And, The Buffalo Gals (West) Band will be back playing their brand of old-time country and swing music from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.

New Fiber Studio in Crocket
Melanie Perkins, a member of Spindles and Flyers, has recently planned and organized a new community gathering and teaching space for all things fiber related. She has classes, a limited amount of equipment for sale, and events planned throughout the year.

Windrush Farm classes
Windrush Farm, in a lovely rural setting near Petaluma, has fiber arts classes in spinning, dyeing, carding and more. They encourage weavers to learn some of these skills.

Museum of Craft & Design
ANCHOR IN TIME, a retrospective exhibit of work by DOMINIC DI MARE, is June 2 - October 28, at the Museum of Craft & Design, 2569 Third St, S.F.
Hours are 11-6, Tues-Sat, and 12 - 5, Sun.
Fees are Adults: $8 and Seniors: $6. First Tuesdays are Free.
Dominic's small mixed media sculptures incorporate dimensional weaving and cast paper, which serve as the inspiration for his current works on paper. He was one of Helen Pope's favorite artists. More information at sfmcd.org
