Diablo Weavers Guild, based in Walnut Creek, will be meeting via Zoom on the third of Friday of the month through June 2021, 10:00 am until noon or a little later. We do not meet in July and August.
Membership:
Dues for the year, September 2020 - June 2021, are $30 per person; $40 per family.
If joining after January, dues are $15.

Program - Off -the-Grid
Elizabeth Hill will be giving a presentation "Off-the-Grid." This is a powerpoint slide show with woven samples for show and tell after the slide show. See details and photos below.
Try to log in a few minutes early for our meeting, as Elizabeth's presentation will be the first activity. After her presentation, we will have a break and then our business meeting.

Feeling hemmed in by the ho hum of parallels and perpendiculars? Join me in an adventure out of the straight and narrow! In a 45-min slide presentation, we will look at multiple samples in structures that allow the warp and weft to shift and move, creating a dizzying array of curves, undulations and textures. We will discuss techniques and tips for weaving these structures, look at drafts and examine many fabric samples

Sharing at our monthly meetings
Each month for sharing, photos for Diablo should be sent to Vilija by noon on the Thursday before each meeting. That gives her enough time to get the last minute ones in. The sooner, the better for her. However, she said that she can definitely handle “last minute”.
If members have a preference on how they want their pics shown, they should include info on that.

Beautiful Handmade Birdseye loom for Sale
Possibly made in the 30's of beautiful Birds Eye Maple wood and in climate controlled storage. See photos below.
From the owners of the loom:
We have a loom that was built by my kids great grand father, that is, hand built. The wood is of rare Bird's Eye Maple (maybe from the 30's?)
From what I can gather it is a "double action' loom & please correct about my nomenclature.
We would like to sell it if possible. If not the wood is so precious that I can find other uses. It is currently in climate controlled storage.
