Meeting Notes

Reba Siero opened the meeting in President Joan Anderson's absence.

Treasurer's Report: Vilija has paid our dues to CNCH. Vilija passed around a report with bank account information and another folder to collect any outstanding dues owed. She reported a balance of $1202.97 in checking and $1002.67 in savings.

CNCH: Liaison Maureen Miller gave a report from the CNCH Liaison meeting. Booklets are available for the 2019 Conference Retreat to be held at Sonoma State. The retreat dates are June 20 - 23, 2019. The price is bundled, and early bird prices for members start at $635. Participants will select one 2 1/2 day class.

Contests: There will not be a Return To Sender this year. Bags are not allowed in the dining commons, so there will be a Tiny Purse contest. Design a purse that will fit into a 6" x 9" baggie.

About the venue: Handicap parking available with general parking permit and your placard. Meals will be seated in 15 minute groups. If you are late, you may have to wait. Nice lobby for visiting and a spinning circle. Bedrooms are a suite arrangement with 3 singles and 1 double. There are no elevators - if you have mobility issues, please request a ground floor room. Dorm rooms are close to the classrooms. There are no in-room coffee makers, so bring your own. No smoking is allowed on the campus, and pets are not allowed. Service animals are permitted. Linens are provided, there is internet access, and there are no alcohol prohibitions. There is a shopping area directly across the street. Carolina Homespun will be there as a vendor. If you want something ahead of time, please call Morgaine and she will bring it with her.

Registration opens January 15, 2019, and there is a scholarship worth $350 towards your registration. Applications are due 12/1/18. See the website for information

Announcements:

Vilija told us that Treadles To Threads and Diablo Weavers have combined their DVD libraries. They are here and available to be checked out.

Show and Tell was the next agenda item.

Break

After the break. Stephany Wilkes, sheepshearer and author of the new book "Raw Material" gave us a reading from her book, and a brief slide show of the steps in shearing a sheep. There was a question and answer period following her presentation.
