We are all in an 8th grade coding class together. In this class, we learn how to use and apply code on the website Code.org. In this class we work on many different styles of coding and we create new works of coding with it.

Since we all had coding experience from last school year, our technology teacher, Mrs. Cary challenged us to create a website completely coded by us. After some brainstorming, we decided to create a study guide website that any student at our school can use to study for their core classes. We first started by deciding what subjects we needed to do. Then we emailed one seventh and one eighth grade teacher for social studies, science, and language arts. We took the information they gave us and organized it into a website using code.

We used Code.org to complete this website program. Code.org allows you to use different styles of coding such as blocks and typing out the code. On our project all the code was typed as HTML on Code.org

First, we drew out how we wanted the project to look like. Then we found a list of teachers to get study links from. After that, we sent emails to all of the teachers and waited for a response. We then started to create the main page while waiting for the teachers to email us back. When we got the Links we started to apply them to the website. Once all the links were in, we linked every page together (science, social studies, and Language Arts). We linked all of these pages to the homepage of the website. Once this was done we worked on editing all of the code and finished the final touches to the project so that everything would look uniform. Then we were done with the creation of this project!

The part we liked most about his project was editing the HTML. We really liked seeing the final project as it all came together. We enjoyed going to teachers and collaborating with them on  ideas of what to include in this website.

This project taught us a lot about coding. First, we learned how to do some more advanced coding. We also learned how to work as a team even when we struggled with it. This overall helped us become better at coding and working with each other. We also learned how hard work pays off in the end.
