Multimedia Mash-Up
To create this video, we used a variety of elements. Some of the elements are film, music, transitions, and text boxes.
To begin, we thought about a topic we wanted to film. We chose kitchen safety because all of the people in our group like to cook. Next, we created our script.
Brady and Jorge wrote the script together. They included a combination of funny and serious things. They included funny things to keep the viewer engaged and serious things so the viewer will learn something.
We filmed everything in our family consumer science classroom because there is a kitchen in that room. We began by filming the knife safety portion of our video. Next, we filmed the cheese grater safety segment. Then, we filmed the part about not putting metal in the microwave. Finally, we filmed the do not do this at home part of the video.
Jorge and Aidan did the editing of our video using the free website Clipchamp. We like this because you can login with your Google account. The site was easy to learn and used a lot of drag and drop features. The only thing we don’t like about this program is that a watermark talks randomly in the video.
To edit, first we added a title screen that said Kitchen Safety. Next, we added in the music that would play throughout the video. Then, we added in the first clip of video footage. Once it was placed correctly, and lined up with the music, we added the second and third video clips. At the end of our video, we used a clip to look like a microwave explosion. Finally, we added an end screen and credits.
We made this video because it is important for all people to know kitchen safety. If they do not know basic kitchen safety, they can not cook safely or properly.
We learned some about kitchen safety ourselves. Even Aidan learned a better way to use a cheese grater.
