Feature Video

We created a feature video about the Drakes Creek Middle School cafeteria and how they make the food. We created this feature video because we wanted to inform others about our school’s lunch and how they make it.

To begin we had to brainstorm possible segments we could do to inform people about what our school is, but we eventually decided on interviewing our lunch ladies, and lunch procedures that give a deeper insight into what happens behind the scenes of our school lunch.

Then, we had to talk to the people that we were interviewing to find a time that they could do their interviews and record. We talked to the curriculum coordinator, who works in the cafeteria as a monitor, and the lunch lady that is in charge of running the cafeteria, to find the information that we needed for our project.

Next, we had to record students and cafeteria workers about what kind of school lunch food they like and how they make it. Then we edited the footage.

Finally, we met up with our librarian to collaborate about the episode to make sure everything was finished correctly and after editing the footage. She reminded us to include credits. Then we uploaded it on Youtube so our school could watch it on the news show.

The audience for our feature video is the DCMS staff and students. The video is also going to be seen by the teachers presenting it on the morning news show program.  

The purpose of our feature video is to inform the viewers of our news show what happens in the school cafeteria. The cafeteria is an important part of our school. They feed our students and make sure we have healthy foods.

A problem we encountered was finding the right time to record or interview students. Teachers don’t want students to miss class so we had to find a good time to get everything filmed.

This video was fun and interesting to make. What we enjoyed most about creating this feature video is seeing how the cafeteria workers make our food for us.
