Choir Tryouts
I decided to create a graphic design project for STLP. I tried looking for many websites and found Canva. My aunt helped me log in and showed me all the choices of the different templates. I looked at a few of them and chose to create a poster.
When I started working on my project I had a hard time thinking of what to make my poster about; luckily I was sitting around a group of girls who were talking about choir so I asked them if they had to try out for it and they said they did. Even though the choir try outs had already happened I thought I’d make a poster about it because I’ve never seen one before and choir is a pretty big deal in our school.
I started off by choosing the color for the background for the poster and decided on a peach color. Next, I typed the name of the school. After that I typed “Choir Tryouts” and put the word tryouts in all capitals so that it would stand out a little more. I had both words in black which didn’t look very good with the peach background so i made the word choir yellow so it would match better. Then I looked for images of notes in Canva’s free clip art and used two separate notes to put next to the the “choir tryouts” text. Then I put when and where the tryouts would be happening right beneath the music staff. Under that I put “We hope to see you there” in a small print and in all capitals. The poster looked like it was missing something so decided to add two different circular shapes with designs on them from the shapes Canva offered, changed the colors so one would be yellow and the other would be bright yellow, and overlapped them to make a pattern that would stand out. I put it around the date and location of the tryouts. I also added a square, made it yellow, and put it around the poster to make margin. I scrolled to see if I could find a music staff on the images on Canva but the ones I found had watermarks on them so I went on Google and typed “music staff” on the search box. I went to images, clicked on where it said tools, clicked on usage rights, and went on where it said labeled for reuse. I found a picture I really liked so I put it in my uploads on Canva and used it on the bottom, top right and left corners of the poster to make it look like one big music staff wrapping around the poster.
Once I was finished, I showed our music teacher. She wants to edit it and use it next year for tryouts.
