After reviewing the spreadsheet with ideas, I chose infographic. I decided to use Canva to create my infographic. I had notes about Chinese dynasties, and I wanted to use them as inspiration for my infographic. Hence, I decided to focus on the fall of Chinese dynasties. For this topic, I went with a dark color palette including dark red, gold, forrest green, and white. However, when I went home, I realized that I didn’t like my topic nor the color scheme. I was using Canva for my format, so I searched up red, and green and used lighter shades. In the end, I went with salmon, medium green, gold, white, and beige and the topic of Chinese emperors. My format was 6 boxes with a line running down the middle.
I used the fonts League Spartan, Apricots, Agrandir, and Bobby Jones Condensed Soft. The League Spartan and Apricots, for my heading, were size 80. I used the Agrandir fonts for multiple things including my main information, size 20.5, the emperors’ names, size 25, and the dynasties’ ruling years, size 22. Lastly, Bobby Jones Condensed Soft was size 53 for the dynasties.
When I started the research, I used my social studies packet; I started with Qin Shi Huangdi, the first Chinese emperor. Afterward, I moved on to emperor Wu; this is when I realized that 6 Chinese emperors were too much. As a result, I shortened the amount to only 4 emperors. For the second half, I chose emperor Zhu, and emperor Kangxi. I couldn’t use a packet for these two, so I resorted to the web. After the research, I added visuals including two photos and two pre-made Canva graphics, and my sources at the bottom.
While creating my infographic, I learned that there was a layout option for an infographic. Before this, I only knew about presentations and docs. Also, I learned about the Canva photo editor, which I used to give a more peachy tone to the photos. While doing this, I learned that there was a draw option, pre-made font combinations, and pre-made color palettes.
