On a trip to Washington, D.C, I saw the Washington Monument and knew I had to take a picture. It shows how man-made creations complements and improves a simple yet beautiful landscape of the river and trees. On this trip, the only picture-taking device I had with me was my iPhone 11. I used it to take pictures of this monument as well as museums and other monuments I visited.
When deciding what to manipulate, I thought of this picture because I wanted to accentuate the Washington Monument and show that it looks magnificent throughout the day. This led me to choosing the title “Incomparable Shift” because day shifting into evening is in this picture and both are as equally as beautiful as the other. When I made these changes, I used the website Canva. On Canva, I created the sky on the top half of the picture by generating it using the “magic media.” Then I removed the background so I could replace it with the Canva-made sky, showing evening. Also, I added birds from the “elements” section and blurred both the birds and the water. Finally, to exaggerate the monument further, I created a shadow beside it using Canva. This project has been enjoyable experience and has taught me a lot overall.
