I created this project for my Family Consumer Science class as an assignment. We were making our own version of the popular cooking TV show “ Chopped” and its version for kids, “Chopped Jr.”
I had to pull out random ingredients to cook with. My ingredients included bananas, Cheez-Its, and pepperoni. I decided to create a dessert penne pasta salad!
Even though a big part of the assignment was cooking with random ingredients, the assignment also needed a digital poster to advertise my dish. To create my digital poster, I used Google Slides.
To begin, I inserted text boxes. In the text boxes I included the ingredients, a “quote” from the owner of a restaurant and my kitchen color.
Next, I looked through the font choices until I found what I wanted to use. I chose to use Lato, Oswald and Source Code Pro. I like these fonts because they look professional.
Then, around each text box, I added dots for the border dash. I did this to attract people’s attention because I think it looks like the flashing lights at a movie theater.
Next, I added pictures. The first picture is in the middle of the digital poster. I took a picture of someone in my class with their hands out. I found the next picture of sweet and salty penne pasta on google images. I searched for a picture that had a creative commons license. I put this picture in the lower right corner of my digital poster. Then, I removed the background of the penne pasta picture and put it in the hands of the student in the first picture. I wanted it to look like the dish was being held.
My favorite part of the digital poster is the dots around the text boxes. I think it makes my poster cool! It reminds me of when I go to the movie theater.
