The Legend of the Oar
Our team decided to make a documentary showcasing The Legend of the Oar. The oar is a school spirit item that sometimes shows up at school events. We learned that the oar is much more closely intertwined with the history of our school and our school’s spirit. The oar is a symbol used to bring our school together. Without the oar, the atmosphere would most certainly be different.
We enjoyed filming and learning things we didn’t know about our school’s history. One of our favorite parts of this project was interviewing teachers. We found out that some of the teachers in our school have an emotional connection with the oar!
To film this video we used both a canon camera and a iphone camera. When we first started to film, we had a little bit of trouble trying to find people who knew the entire history of the oar, but we eventually found Mrs. Hogue, a teacher and former student of our school. Our next problem was that our camera died in the middle of filming. But that didn’t stop us. We quickly switched over to an iphone and kept on filming.
Once we had all of our video footage, we loaded it into iMovie to edit. In iMovie, we added titles and voice overs. We wanted to use a good piece of music to finalize the project. We went to the YouTube creator studio and found ---- which is cited at the end of our video.
