Screencasting
Using the App Tasker
I chose to create a screencast because I wanted to show people how to use an app on my phone. To make my screencast, I used a free app called DU Recorder. DU Recorder puts an icon on your phone screen which you click to start a screencast.
My screencast is about an app called Tasker. I like Tasker because it helps automate preferences on your smartphone. Using DU Recorder, I went through the process of how to use the Tasker app.
After screencasting, I uploaded the video to my computer and recorded a voiceover using a microphone. You can do a voiceover on the DU Recorder app, but I decided to use the computer because I wanted to have a clearer sound.
To sync my voiceover to my screencast I used the free downloadable video editing software called Openshot. I worked with the screencast and the audio until both tracks were aligned correctly.
Finally, I exported the product and uploaded it to YouTube so it could be easily shared.
Problems I encountered were meeting the two minute time limit. I had to redo my script to meet the time limit. I also had a little trouble with the voiceover. To fix this, I wrote a more descriptive script.
Overall, I enjoyed creating this screencast. I think screencasting is a good way to show people about softwares on their phone or different types of technology they want to learn about.
