Book Trailer

I created a book trailer about the book The Poison Jungle. This book is about dragonets named Sundew, Blue, and Cricket trying to stop their tyrannical queen, Queen Wasp, who has the power to mind control all of the HiveWings. They venture into Sundew’s home, the Poison Jungle, a place where other dragons don’t dare to go. They find the plant that allows Wasp to control her subjects and Sundew is shocked when she figures out who let this happen.

I made this book trailer for my language arts class. We were assigned the project of completing a book trailer over any book that we wanted.

To begin, the dragonets and their friend Swordtail are about to enter the jungle, Sundew explains that it is very dangerous but if they stick with her and don’t do anything dumb, they’ll be fine.

Then, Sundew sneaks out at night to meet with her friend Willow. They argue about why Sundew is always mad, and Sundew explains why, saying that her tribe was nearly killed by Wasp, and that she needed to be defeated and replaced

Next, Sundew and her friends follow a LeafWing named Hawthorn, who knows the plant that caused the mind control and the supposed antidote. He explains how Wasp found it and he reveals that he helped her find it. Sundew is in shock and disbelief.

Finally, the dragonets think about what they’re going to do now that they know the antidote. Sundew says that no matter what everyone else does, she will fight against Wasp to keep her tribe alive.

To create this book trailer, I used iMovie on my phone. I found and drew images to match the theme of my book trailer. Once I arranged all of the images in the order I wanted, I added music from the iMovie library. Finally, I added citations at the end of my book trailer.

The audience for my book trailer is other middle school students. The purpose of my book trailer is to engage viewers into looking into the series. I really enjoy this series and I think students that like fantasy books will like it too.

A problem I encountered was finding voice actors to do the smaller lines. I ended up asking some of my friends to record their voices on my phone.

What I enjoyed most about creating this book trailer is drawing each frame. I really enjoy creating digital art. I hope you enjoy my book trailer!

Book Trailer

I created a book trailer about the book, “Scythe” by Neal Shusterman. This book is set in a future dystopian society where scientists have figured out how to cheat death. This is great for the people that live in this society however to keep from overpopulation, Scythe’s are tasked to kill people.

Each Scythe has their own way of killing and they also have a quota to fill. Every year, new are chosen and trained to help control the population.

We made this book trailer because this book is very interesting and a one of a kind read. When we read this book, we couldn’t put it down! We really enjoyed the book and decided it would make a great book trailer.

To begin we wrote a simple script and we used a storyboard to set up our scenes. Then we filmed our book trailer using a small video camera. Since the opening scene happens at a school, we filmed the trailer after school at our school. We chose to film in the hallway and in our school library.

Next, we uploaded our footage into iMovie. We edited the clips and added sound effects, music and titles to enhance the viewing experience. Finally, the book trailer was uploaded to our school STLP youtube channel.

To create this book trailer, we used iMovie. The audience for our book trailer is middle and high school students. The purpose of our book trailer is to get students interested in reading this book.

A problem we encountered was during editing. We realized the audio wasn’t amazing in one scene. To fix this, we had to do some voice overs.

What we enjoyed most about creating this book trailer is sharing the suspense of the book!
