Book Trailer

We created a book trailer about the book “Middle School: Worst Years of my Life” by James Patterson. This book is about Raphael "Rafe" Khatchadorian. Rafe gets introduced to Hills Village Middle School and has a great plan to break all the rules. Him and his bestfriend start off this plan by posting notes all over the lockers and ending up in detention. They don't regret breaking these rules and don't learn their lesson!

We made this book trailer because we wanted to inform people about the book. The book is really funny and we think people would enjoy reading it.

To begin we planned out all of the scenes we needed to film. We made a list of them on a google doc and used that as our storyboard. We also made a list of the props we needed to shoot each scene. On google docs, we found a button that let us make the list a checklist where we could check it off then we finished the certain scene or got a prop!

Then we started filming the scenes we needed for the trailer. We started with the scene where Rafe put the frogs in the trophy case. We got our science teacher’s frogs to do this. We had to redo some footage because some people might look at the camera or start laughing. In two scenes we had to get students from other classes to do the scenes so it would look more like we were in a classroom.

Next we downloaded our video footage that we had already filmed onto the computer. Then we inserted it into Canva, a free editing website. We started editing the footage and got ready to film the final clips.

Finally we added transitions between the video clips, music and a few voiceovers. Once we got voiceovers and transitions we did the credits! The credits were pretty easy and simple to do since all we had to do was type words onto a page in Canva.

The audience for our book trailer is the school, DCMS. It will be shown on our weekly news show!

The purpose of our book trailer is to entertain others and to show kids how breaking rules can result in a bad punishment. By showing kids breaking rules and then getting put in detention, it may help with people knowing for every bad action there's going to be a bad consequence! Thus will show kids not to break rules.

A problem we encountered was the fire alarm scene kept getting delayed. It got delayed because of the rain and sicknesses that occurred. We finally got the chance to do it when everyone we needed was there and no rain!

What we enjoyed most about creating this book trailer is filming all of the fun scenes and working together! Working together was so easy with our group and fun!
