Star Wars is something I have always enjoyed the idea of, the idea of a samurai movie alongside a western movie, but in space. I have been trying to make a model of a lightsaber so I can have something cool to put on my shelf.
To begin, I used the program Blender. I like using Blender because it is a free program that offers many different tools to use and it is compatible with many other programs. I found an image of Obi Wan’s lightsaber and then dragged the image in as a flat plane. Then, I created a cylinder and aligned it with the lightsaber image. I took the cylinder and created new edges of the shape and scaled those edges until they matched with the corresponding image. Once the image became similar to the lightsaber I wanted, I went to the file part on Blender and exported it as an STL file.
The STL file was then imported into Tinkercad where I could edit it further. I like using Tinkercad because of it being free to use and easily accessible. In Tinkercad, I laid the file flat and changed the color.
