Our slides are a way that we can reach our students. They provide information that is important to the students and contain things that they should know. The slides range from upcoming school events to achievements that we are celebrating. We did this project so we could inform and have a direct impact along with communication to the students of our school.
The program that we chose to use was a mix of Canva along with Google Slides. We used Canva to design posters because of the creativity it allows to put into our posters. We also used Google slides as a way to display our posters. At our school, we have TVs in each hallway where the slides are casted.
Our slides provided updates, information, and celebrations about the great things that happen at our school. Every morning, the slides are casted onto the TVs and play all day long. We do this to ensure that the students get to see the slides enough to ensure they get the message that is playing. When a new slide is added, it instantly updates to the TVs set up around school so we can get the poster out as soon as possible.
The slides are designed in Canva and then are uploaded onto Google Slides. Teachers at our school email us about what posters that they would like to have made. We send them a copy and ask if they would like to change or add anything. After any adjustments that were made we take it onto the TV Google Slideshow. We upload the newly made poster onto the slides and it is then instantly projected onto the TVs. We also provide a google form where sport teams can record their wins. We do this so we can celebrate their victories and display them for all our students to see. We check this daily and update the slides so we can be up to date and be current with the wins.
While creating the slides we learned a lot. At the beginning, we were unfamiliar with Canva and its controls and options. It took me a while and several posters but we eventually got the ways of it and now we feel like pros when it comes to designing posters. We also learned how to transfer posters onto different platforms. We were taught and learned that using different formats when downloading the posters work in different ways. For example, JPEG works the best when we share it with our teachers and when we upload them onto the slides.
Organize⦠When choosing the colors, we make sure that we have a lot of them with school colors. We do this to show school pride and support. When we do the posters in non-school colors we make sure to do a range. We try to use a different color for each poster, if all the slides were the same color it would be boring and bland.
