Digital Illustration
I created my digital illustration because I am very into suspense and action, which mainly creates this picture. I knew that I wanted something that had detail and was a lot of the things I liked, so I chose the octopus because I was asking some of my family members what the monster in my picture should be, and I really liked my uncle's idea of a giant octopus.
I chose to make everything a gritty sort of dark blue to cover and light everything to show a kind of apocalypse setting. It helps bring out a sensation of after chaos and suspense rising. I also used a lot of dark gray colors to help make it look like destruction and the power being out.
The first thing I did was plan out what I wanted to draw, which is like I previously said, a suspenseful scene, so I settled on a type of mutated monster attack. Once I knew what I wanted to draw, I started everything in layers. First came the scientist, then the octopus, then all the background objects. Finally, when I had my general setting done, I started adding Shadows and filters to make everything pop out a little more and to add a dirty texture. I use Procreate on the Ipad Pro to draw this.
