Population Locations: Redhollow City, Greenstone Village
A fox-like race that lives within burrows on Zarlathil. Standard Vulcyon reflect Earth’s red foxes, though due to the various color mutations that red foxes can have, Vulcyon come in a massive amount of colors. They live in tribes and have an appointed Alpha to lead them very much like Earth’s red foxes. Though to keep populations stable, lower ranking Vulcyon are allowed to have children as well. The Standard Vulcyon rely on the Desert Vulcyon traders to supply them with resources that aren't able to be found on Zarlathil. Alongside this, they are allied with the Rukmar for trading and even protection as well.
Population Locations: Redhollow City, Greatdune Village
Outpost Locations: Kanetsu, Dynastayria
Built very similarly to Earth’s Fennec Foxes, Desert Vulcyon are frequent travelers and do a variety of trading with the Undead, Dymaleons, Battoise, Orcs, Dwarves, and Lidaes. They trade a variety of things to provide resources to their standard counterparts as well as with the other races they do trading with. With the number of scuffles and fights they’ve had with Squama stealing their wares and Taurloc just outright disliking them, they consider Squama and Taurloc their enemies.
Population Locations: Redhollow City, Deepsnow Village
Outpost Locations: Xarzith
The snowy counterparts of the Vulcyon are built very similarly to Earth’s Arctic Foxes. Arctic Vulcyon typically spend a decent amount of time gathering and storing food to prepare for harsh weather and times of food shortages. While Dragoso rarely encounters seasons, there are times when Xarzith does experience milder temperatures that are far different from the standard blizzards the planet gets. And there are times Zarlathil has cooler months where plants struggle to grow. The Arctic Vulcyon are prepared for these conditions with their food gathering. When temperatures are high, their white fur turns brown and is far more reflected when they visit Earth. When food is scarce, they get extremely territorial of their homes and their food.
Population Locations: Hibernal Hollow
The Depths variant of the Vulcyon. The Vigra Vulcyon are said to be very similar to Earth’s Bat Eared Foxes. They have the large ears and the same coloration as the Bat Eared Foxes and are sensitive to noise. So much so that they prefer the quiet of the Zarlathil Grove over the bustle of the surface cities and villages. The Grove is relatively quiet in comparison. Viagra Vulcyon mainly eat berries and trade with the Rukmar and visiting Nycteri to obtain a vast variety of berries to eat and grow.
Ancestors to the Vulcyon. Very little is actually known about the Lagopuncers due to their elusive nature and the fact they were recorded being entirely feral. Theories on the Lagopouncers stem from the Vulcyon living somewhat primitive lives, it can be assumed that Lagopouncers were very much like Earth’s various fox species in their behavior. Remains of Lagopouncers have always been discovered in groups, pointing to the theory they lived as a mating pair with their offspring and lived within dens like the Vulcyon do today. Lagopouncer teeth were built for an omnivorous diet and what few Woodhopper writings that have been deciphered tell of occasional competition for food against the Lagopouncers. Though they were reported being scavengers, stealing already claimed kills when nobody paid attention to it. Lagopouncers were also reported as being skittish and shy, giving the Vulcyon their apprehensive nature to new things today.
