Gnorics are described as being acid based anthropomorphic hyenas. Native to Abeco, they are proven to be one of the most resilient races within Dragoso. They have adapted to the acid rain and toxic land as a means of survival. Like Earth’s Hyenas, they are matriarchal based with females being the alphas of the packs. Usually the smartest and most cunning of the packs end up being the alphas. Because of the high requirement for survival, Gnorics will eat whatever meat they can get their hands on, even going as far as killing and eating their exiled kin and even their deceased leaders. Meat is meat in their eyes. Strength is also a big key in their culture, even for outsiders. Even to just secure trade, strength must be proven by fighting a chosen champion or the pack leader herself.

Toxic Gnorics are a much more deadly version of the Gnorics. They are extremely aggressive and rarely want anything to do with others let alone each other. Many of them are typically solitary and fights break out amongst even the smallest groups. It takes a heavy handed alpha to keep them in check and sometimes results in casualties. Toxic Gnorics, unlike standard Gnorics, will not eat their own meat due to the unbalanced chemicals in their bodies making them way too toxic. Eating Toxic Gnoric meat results in organ failure and eventual death. They learned it the hard way now it’s ingrained into their young not to cannibalize Toxic Gnorics. Instead the bodies are thrown into an acid lake or sometimes even tossed to nuisance predators to kill them off.
Ancestors to the Gnorics. While the Gnorics and even the Toxic Gnorics had very solid bodies and seemed to be infused with the chemicals from Abeco, the Acidshufflers looked much more like they were engulfed and embodied by their chemical compound. Remains that had been found were discovered to have what had once been something similar to acidic Coal Tar but much more toxic than the coal tar found on Earth. The compound was found inside their bones, hardened after years of preservation. While difficult to extract, some DNA was found inside of the tar due to its ability to preserve fossils. Acidshuffler skeletons were observed to be quite similar to a prehistoric hyena found on Earth, the Giant Short Faced Hyena.
