Stormbringer was the leader of the idea to take Kyrus and Kano Volcano from their real parents to do experiments on them. Stormbringer would've treated Kyrus and Kano as animals had Sandstorm not had the kind heart she did and chose to raise them as humans. Sandstorm didn't receive her dragon form until she and her husband experimented with unknown technology along with using Kyrus to give them powers. Kyrus and his older brother, Kano, were taken from their birth parents by Sandstorm and Stormbringer, Sandstorm being against the idea, but had no choice. She raised the young dragons as humans, as if they were her own. Despite the care she gave the two, she and Stormbringer were killed. Kaylano saw she had tried to do good in their lives and was spared the harsh treatment of the Underworld.

Vena was the first born of the siblings, her younger brothers being Kano and Kyrus. She knew of her parents, though left at a young age to seek the savanna. She found a pride of lions and lived and grew as one of them. The pride relied on her for her ability to catch prey and keep hunters away. She grew into a beautiful creature and was admired as lions would respect any other creature. It wasn't until Vena was captured by dragon hunters did she learn of the civilized world that was America. Taken from her African home and kept in a cage, Vena was scared and unsure of what to make of her new surroundings. She managed to escape, wounded, and managed to track down a fellow Volcano Dragon, that dragon being her younger brother, Kano. After explaining who she was and who their real parents were, Vena stayed with Kano for a while before transferring to the Voutneth Academy where she coaches soccer.

After a heated argument, the two split. Time passed and Kyrus found out about Gemini, soon starting the Purple and Volcano war thanks to a wizard. Kyrus got himself killed during the war. During the Council's attempts to destroy the Voutneth Team, Envy revived Kyrus and used him to weaken Anna by taking Marty, Calla, Stella, and Kyesha. Kyrus was killed once again in the end.
