Avitite are large flightless birds that have learned to thrive on the plains of Immensum. Due to the lack of grasping hands, Avitites have mastered grabbing things with their feet and beak. They also compensated for the lack of hands by attaching blades to their ankles to use as weapons on top of their sharp talons and strong kicks. Avitites also use their size as an intimidation tactic before they actually attack. They will charge an enemy or predator and vocalize to spook them before they resort to straight up attacking. Standard Avitites look similar to Earth's Emus. They are similar in size and coloration to Emus and can run up to thirty miles per hour.
Population Locations: Minnawarra City, Sandbeak Village
The largest of the surface dwelling Avitites, the Savanna Avitites are similar to Earth's Ostriches. They are around the same size and have similar coloration to ostriches. They are also the fastest of the Avitites, running up to sixty miles per hour.
Population Locations: Minnawarra City, Skyhope Village
Grassland Avitites are only slightly smaller than the Standard Avitite and are sometimes compared to Earth’s Rhea. Their coloration varies between brown and white which differentiates them from the Standard Avitites. They can run faster than Standard Avitites as well, at speeds of up to forty miles per hour.
Population Locations: Minnawarra City, Timberfeather Village
A forest dwelling version of the Avitites similar in size to the Standard Avitites. However what sets them apart is their black feathers, blue skin, and a large bony crest on their heads. The crest is helpful in battle in a pinch, but is primarily used to attract mates for breeding, similar to Earth’s Cassowary. Forest Avitites can run up to thirty miles per hour.
Population Locations: Minnawarra City, Nightwing Village
The smallest out of all the Avitites, the Midnight Avitites are oddly also the only nocturnal Avitite subrace with a very unique call they use to scare away predators and foes. They rely on this to compensate for their small size. They are brown in coloration and can run only about twelve miles per hour. They are compared to Earth’s Kiwi bird, luckily the Midnight Avitites don't lay extremely large eggs. Instead they lay eggs that are about the size of chicken eggs.
Population Locations: Stonebeak Village
The Depths variant of the Avitites and the largest out of all of them. They live in harmony with the Shadow Tigressa within the Temples. Temple Avitites allow the Shadow Tigressa to perch and rest on their backs and in return, the Shadow Tigressa have built them easy to access food and water stations. Due to some Temple Avitites getting up to ten feet tall, foraging for food and water is difficult for them so the Shadow Tigressa remedied this struggle. Their large size means large talons and strong legs, therefore they don't actually need to wear ankle blades, however they do still wear them to scare off predators and enemies just at the mere sight of them. Temple Avitites are sometimes compared to Earth's extinct Elephant Birds. Due to their sheer size, they cannot run much if at all. They rely on their size and strength alone to keep them safe.
Ancestors to the Avitites and completely feral. Feathersprinters were vicious predators that had massive beaks and would stop at nothing for a meal. They could potentially run up to forty miles per hour. Not much else is known about Feathersprinters due to Arcanewalkers having very little interest in them.
