Shalisa

Hi I am Shalisa. I am here to share with all of you my experience in Juying Secondary for the past two years. It might get a little dry for a while but please bear with me! When I found out that I was posted to Juying Secondary, I was nervous because none of my close friends in P6 were posted there to Juying so the thought of me being alone was scary. But on the first day, everyone was so welcoming. Since then, I have made so many great friends here and the teachers are also very supportive.

One thing that I love about Juying Secondary is the DREAMS studio. I have made a lot of memories here at Juying Secondary! I am a member of Modern Dance, and since Covid-19, we have not been able to perform in front of everyone in the hall. Hence, we had to do pre-recorded performances. I had my first CCA when I was in Sec 1 there and had my first recording there too. Sounds cliche but the studio holds a special place in my heart. Plus, it has cool disco lights and beanbags!

Another thing that I love about Juying is the personal lockers! Sometimes, you have so many subjects on a particular day and you have to bring so many textbooks. By the end of the day, you’ll be so tired because your bag is so heavy and you still need to carry your personal learning device home. You cannot put your textbooks under the table because what if someone stole it right? The school has lockers located near the classrooms so you can put all your thick and heavy books in it. You can also put your clean CCA T-shirts in it too! It made my life so much easier and convenient.

But in all seriousness, the people in Juying are the ones that have made my secondary journey so far an amazing one. They have been so encouraging and supportive! My form teacher and subject teachers have been caring towards me and my classmates since day one. They are very easy to talk to and I could come to them whenever something was bothering me. I also made so many wonderful friends here in Juying where I could be myself around them and they were always there when I needed them.

Other than that, during CCA, me and my team members would constantly cheer on each other when we are doing physical training or practices. My team members have always made CCA enjoyable and fun! I have learnt so much from my seniors and instructors too! Modern Dance has represented Juying in many ways such as competing at the Singapore Youth Festival and performing in NDP 2021. You might have seen some of my seniors on TV!

Juying has given me so many opportunities and I am really grateful for that.
