Juying Secondary School is an exceptional school with a relaxing atmosphere that makes me and other JYians feel safe and right at home. The CCA I chose is Band. I chose Band as my CCA as I wanted to learn something new. One of the things I learnt in Band is that you need discipline and hard work to accomplish something you want to do. I also learnt other things like the principle that you should not give up when you are trying to reach your goal.

Our Band instructor, Mr How, is very dedicated in teaching us how to use our instruments, no matter how much we lack behind the other members of the band. Band made me realise that practice is the only way to improve on something. We also learnt that sometimes success can only be achieved through failure. We just have to learn from it and improve.

In class, my Mathematics teacher, Mrs Tee, knows how to make every lesson interesting and fun. She lightens the mood of the classroom by cracking jokes and I think it is nice that she does that as we would listen to her and not doze off in the middle of the lesson. When we are not in the classroom, Mrs Tee occasionally talks to us personally on how we are doing in school and at home. During these conversations with her, I really think of her as a friend rather than as a teacher.

Settling down in Juying was rather easy as everyone has been friendly and approachable. Getting used to the school facilities was a little bit of a challenge as the school is big and I took awhile to get used to it. Juying is a splendid school and I have no regrets in choosing it.
