Putri Qistina

Secondary 1

Hello. I am Putri from 1T1. My primary school was Westwood Primary.

My most memorable experience was the secondary one orientation camp. There was once my form teacher, Ms Sabirah, asked me to volunteer my sharing for the secondary one reflection camp. I had to write about what I thought about the camp and share it in front of the parents. This experience made me open up and I became more sociable and outspoken.

My favourite teachers are Ms Sabirah and Mr Choong. Whenever I do something wrong, Ms Sabirah has the best and wisest advice for me. She advises me on my studies and in my personal life. She is always there for me when I am in need of someone to talk to or when I am troubled. I am really thankful to have met her. I am really grateful as she is always there to listen to me, no matter what the situation is. I really admire her discipline when it comes to hard work. Although she may look fierce, she is a pleasure to be with. She sacrifices her time to ensure we are able to cope with our work. She never fails to put a smile on my face. I also love how easy going she is and how she can crack jokes easily.

Mr Choong is always willing to help and I appreciate him for not just giving me the answers, but helping me to find the answer on my own. For each PE lesson, he will always talk about our safety first and he never fails to ask if we are sick on that day or not. Both Ms Sabirah and Mr Choong are great teachers and they have made an impact in me. They really care for their students, not only in terms of their academic results, but also their well-being. They never fail to impress upon me the importance of our school values. I also really like how they can be humorous and often crack jokes at times but are serious in disciplining the class.

The CCA I am currently in is the Student Council. Being in Student Council has been a very good experience. I enjoy being a student councillor. Student Council has taught me the value of teamwork. I may be able to do certain things on my own, however, it is so much more impactful and meaningful when I have people whom I can work with together. This CCA has helped me to discover both the challenges and rewards that having teamwork will bring you. I know for a fact that these opportunities are not always going to be easy. I will be dealing with clashing opinions and different personalities. But at the end of it all, I get to learn more than I did before.

Student Council has also given me a network of opportunities. It has taught me more about myself and how I interact with people. Not only have I refined my communication and teamwork skills, I have also understood how important the right attitude is. I have learned effective communication, debate, and persuasive skills. Being a student councillor has also helped me to face my fears in public speaking, socialising with others and participating in group activities. The teachers and seniors in Student Council have been very encouraging and supportive. They have made me realise the importance of being responsible and organised. I love how the seniors are very friendly and never fail to make me laugh and smile. The teachers are all very kind hearted.

I hope my journey in this school will continue to be as positive as it is now.
