The most memorable experience in Juying Secondary School (JYSS) for me was when I was given a chance to go to Bintan, Indonesia to do a Values-in-Action (VIA) project. During the trip, I interacted with orphans from another country. As there were struggles due to the language barrier, I used hand gestures to communicate with them. The games and activities my class planned were unforgettable. I was able to experience how their daily lives were like and I learned many important values from the trip. I am thankful to the school for giving me this opportunity to give back to society in a fun and meaningful way.

The school offers a wide variety of Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) and many engaging activities for me to push my limits in developing my strength, such as learning Ukulele, Guzheng and other instruments through the Learning for Life Programme (LLP). One very special event that the school has is the JYian dance performance, whereby every each cohort will take turns to dance as a class and perform in front of all the students during Teachers’ Day celebration. It is also a platform for me to step out of my comfort zone.

I am very proud to be part of the JYSS family. The school provides the students a conducive learning environment to revise and study. There are also many facilities such as the Chillax room that allows students to create strong friendship bonds by spending quality time with their friends there. It is also a place for students to relax and have a little break from studying.

The school teachers have impacted my life greatly. All the support and encouragement given by my teachers have motivated me in my studies .Through their patience and guidance, I am able to continue to excel in my studies. The school also organises night study sessions at the canteen for the graduating cohort, with many teachers staying back late to answer our questions. I am very thankful to all my teachers!

I joined Badminton team as my CCA and over the years, I have learnt teamwork, resilience and self-discipline through the tough trainings. Everyone in the team is friendly. During competitions, the team will always be cheering for the players who are competing and give them the moral support. My coach always motivates us and teaches us how to think like a champion. There is also CCA camp, which allows students from different levels to bond together with one another to strengthen our unity.

Overall, the school has been continuously planning programmes to cater to students’ needs by encouraging us to provide feedback and suggestions. I have never once regretted my decision for choosing JYSS as my first choice of secondary school and I am very thankful for what the school has done for me. I definitely would recommend all of you to join the Juying Family!
