JUYING SECONDARY SCHOOL
JURONG PRIMARY SCHOOL (ALUMNI)

SECONDARY 1

I am May Thu Khin from Juying Secondary School and was from Jurong Primary School. I graduated in year 2018 from class 6 Gracious. I had a very fun time in Jurong Primary personally and I continued the fun in Juying Secondary. I can guarantee you will go through the same experience too.
I am proud to say that Juying recognised leadership qualities in the students. Even though I am just a Secondary 1 student, I was given the opportunity to be a Juying Sports Leader. I am very proud to be a Juying Sports Leader as we get to organise fun and memorable events such as the Cross Country at Singapore Discovery Centre, Juying Sports Carnival and interclass sports competitions.
Juying Sports Leaders like myself also get to attend student leadership camps and workshop to further hone our leadership skills. I have learnt many useful skills such as how to organise events, be a fantastic leader who can motivate others in times of difficulties and also to work together in a team despite differences and disagreements. These skills are really important and can be applied when we step into tertiary education such as the polytechnic and even in the working world. Even if you are not interested to be a Sports Leader, I am sure there will be other opportunities for you to be a leader such as the Student Councillor or even the CCA leader when you become a Juying student.
Anyway, aside from the school’s ability in bringing out our leadership qualities, did I mention about the CCAs in Juying? We have a variety of CCAs to choose from so you will definitely find one that is of your interest. You might even gain a new interest!
I am from the badminton CCA and I enjoy it a lot even though it involves a lot of Physical Training. I have learnt many values along the way like perseverance, responsibility, teamwork, humility and sportsmanship. So really, the CCAs in Juying teaches us things that we don’t usually learn in the classroom and it is promised to give you a fun time if you make the right choice from a friendly match between the seniors and the juniors. I was surprised that just 1 match could teach us so much but it was clear after my coach explained it to us.
Lastly , I would say that Juying Secondary School has one of the most reasonable, kind, and understanding teachers. They joke around and they are informal at times to make our learning more fun. My most favourite teacher is Ms Maybellina Lim. She is not only my form teacher but also my English and Geography teacher. I really enjoy her lessons and it is one that I look forward to all the time. She is a very reasonable teacher and understanding as well. I honestly think that she has superpowers. She can sense when something is wrong in her student’s life. She takes time to know us individually and she will ask us if we’re okay if she senses that something is wrong.
Speaking about my experience with her as a form teacher, there was this incident where I was going through friendship problems and I did not want to tell my teachers about it because I honestly did not want to pressure them and make them feel obligated to always help me and that I was stubborn to think I could solve the problem on my own. In the end, my friend told Ms Lim about it and the next day she addressed it to the class and helped us solve the problems we faced. I really would like to thank my friend for helping me in my struggles and helping to tell the teachers about it.
Juying has really taught me a lot. It is early to say but I think I have found my lifelong friends already. I learnt what real friendship really felt like and I feel very safe in Juying’s environment because there are teachers and many other friends, classmates and schoolmates who actually care.
I love Juying so much and if you come to Juying, you might know the exact reason why I love Juying too.
