JUYING SECONDARY SCHOOL

ASHLEY NADIRA

SECONDARY 1

I choose JYSS as my first choice and I was lucky to get into this school because the school is huge, the environment is beautiful, the food is nice and the students and teachers are kind.

We had part 1 of our orientation camp during the first few days of the year. At first, I was nervous and scared as I was alone and had not made any friends yet, but when the seniors had grouped all the secondary 1 students, I made some friends and we bonded through the activities. My group was called Pegasus and we had lots of fun right from the first day.

During the orientation camp, we also got to try the different types of CCAs the school offered, from performing arts, uniformed groups, sports and games, to clubs and societies. I had lots of fun trying out all the different CCAs, even though I was interested in the performing arts, particularly in cultural dance as my CCA in my primary school was Malay dance, hence I indicated that as my first choice.

Nevertheless, I eventually joined NCDCC. It is a tough CCA and there are a lot of challenges we face. Although my friends and I will get scolding from our ‘Sirs and Mams’, but we did not give up. In fact, I really like my CCA as it is very interesting.

The part 2 of my orientation camp was the best experience ever. We had a 3 Day 2 Night camp in school and on the first day of the camp, we had an outing to the National Gallery and Sentosa. We had the best day ever over there. We played games in Sentosa and the teachers bought us ice-cream as it was a hot day. We were really thankful to the Teachers!

We have very nice teachers in Juying Secondary. My Form Teachers are very kind and always help us a lot in our work. I have two Form Teachers, one is my Science Teacher and the other is my PE Teacher. I also like my Mother Tongue teacher Mdm Suhana, my Geography Teacher Ms Elydia, my English Teacher, Mr Fauzul and my Art Teacher, Ms Sabirah. All of them are helpful and funny, as they will make jokes when they teach. They are the ones who have helped me to improve in my studies, and I appreciate what they have done for me.
