I was troubled during the time when Jesia was preparing for her PSLE as I was concerned about her performance. During that period, I had already started to search for a potential good school to enroll her. My idea of a good school is one where the teachers and school leaders are willing to bring out my daughter's confidence and develop her strengths. Right after Jesia finished her PSLE, she brought home a Direct School Admission (DSA) form given to her by her CCA teacher, Ms Chun, indicating a list of schools we could choose from. There were a few schools which I did not want Jesia to enter. Then I came across Juying Secondary School in the list and suddenly remembered that my younger brother used to study there.

I called my brother and started to ask him about the school. After which, I tried to gather more information about Juying Secondary School through the school website. What caught my attention was the school's OYSTER philosophy. It is aligned to what I believe in education. Subsequently, I read about the school's history, achievements and the contributions of the school leaders and teachers to the school. I was convinced that Jesia should study in Juying Secondary School.

Moving on months after Jesia’s enrollment in the school, I could see some changes in my daughter's personality. She has become more outspoken and clearly knows what she wants to do. She has been spending effort and time to help her classmates and teachers. She has set goals for herself. I am heartened to see this positive transformation in her. I am really grateful to the principal and her teachers for building up her confidence. Thus, I would like to say a big thank you to all of those who have helped Jesia.
