JUYING SECONDARY SCHOOL

There are many memorable events that I have experienced in Juying Secondary in these past five months, but what I enjoyed the most is the Secondary 1 Orientation week. I still remember during the first week in Juying, I was feeling nervous due to the unfamiliar school environment and the unfamiliar faces around me. However, as I got to know the people in my orientation group, the feeling of nervousness slowly subsided and we had a lot of fun together.

Besides the fun orientation week, we also had our Secondary 1 Camp. We had a lot of fun activities during the camp, from kite flying to archery and more! What left the greatest impression in me was a game called 'Bird Box'. In this game, we were led by our Class Chairperson at the front and we were supposed to close our eyes and follow the person in front of us by holding one another's shoulders. This game taught me the importance of trust and working together as a team. I enjoyed the camp a lot as we forged camaraderie as a class, which is important for building a class spirit in the long run.

The school also conducts lessons known as passion modules. It enables us to gain more knowledge about the society. My passion module is on 'People'. Through this passion module, I learnt more about the elderly and understood the difficulties they face from day to day. This interesting module has educated me about the ageing population facing Singapore today and sparked my interest to want to do more for the elderly.

Overall, my experiences in Juying have been great, and I look forward to more events that will be coming up in future!
