When I was first looking through the various secondary schools to pick one that I could join, my first thought was Juying Secondary School. It was near my house, which is really convenient for me.

Also, there was a scholarship I could receive upon officially entering the school, which made it an even better deal for me to join this school. There are also many camps that a student can attend, which got me excited because I love to explore places I’ve never been to before.

Some key events that I enjoyed were the many celebrations that went on in school. I am part of the AVPA crew, so I was able to work behind the scenes and enjoy the celebrations from a viewpoint which many of the other students would never see. I also enjoyed the Secondary 2 Adventure Camp, because of the various activities that were conducted.

One of the activities that I thoroughly enjoyed was the High Elements, because it was exciting to successfully complete throughout the entire course, which was really high up in the air. It sent my heart racing. Although I was strapped to a harness that prevented me from falling, I was still afraid of falling. This made the entire course much more satisfying due to the fact that I completed the entire course even though I was really afraid. I was able to overcome my fears and come out stronger.

My favourite teacher is Ms Ong Xian Qing, because her lessons are always intriguing. Her explanations on the various Math concepts are easily understood, which is great for me because it takes me a while to learn new concepts.

In my CCA, we run behind-the-scenes of the many events happening in school. The sense of urgency needed during all these events and rehearsals is key in order to ensure that the event is a success. Although the stuff we do behind-the-scenes is somewhat repetitive and boring, it still is an exciting task to do knowing that you have helped to make the event more successful.

The Juying Scholarship which I received at the start of the year really benefitted me, as I was able to put the money that would go into school fees into better use. It helped me by giving me more money that I can use to purchase other school necessities.
