WEST GROVE PRIMARY SCHOOL (2008)

I enrolled into Juying Secondary School (JYSS) in year 2009 as recommended by my parents. They told me it was going be a good school for me. Five years went by in a blink of an eye and I enjoyed every programme and activity in the school. Back then, I was a person who did not make sound decisions nor had great PSLE results because I disliked studying.

In Juying, I witnessed how the school underwent renovation and changes. Post-renovations, the school had evolved into a much better learning environment for students to study and play. It was also a conducive place for my classmates and I to study for our ‘O’ Levels. I liked how the school has many helpful and caring teachers who helped me in my studies and some others who shaped my character.

There were also some who were willing to stay after lessons to clarify my doubts in studies no matter how tight their schedule was. Thus, with this help, I gradually improved and managed to graduate with a good ‘O’ Levels score that allowed me to select a variety of courses in Polytechnic or opt to study at a Junior College.

Juying Secondary has connected me to different types of people and experiences. The school programmes broadened my interest and they gave me a reason to look forward to school every day.

There are many teachers that I want to thank because I believe every single one of them played a vital role in helping me to achieve. Their sincere advice, scolding, tips, knowledge, stories and jokes helped me to gain a richer perspective towards life.

Throughout my five years in JYSS, with the leadership skill gained from my CCA (National Civil Defence Cadet Corps), the determination gained from studying and encouragement from my peers and teachers, I am now more focused, disciplined and confident and this has helped me to obtain good results in my current institution, Singapore Polytechnic.
