John 14:6-7
Jesus is the Way the Truth and the Life
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
John 15:9-17
Jesus' Last Command: Love Each Another
9 “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. 10 If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. 11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. 12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command. 15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. 17 This is my command: Love each other.
John 18:37
Jesus Came to Earth to Testify to the Truth
37 “You are a king, then!” said Pilate.
Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”
Love and Truth go hand in hand...Truth and love naturally go together...I am not sure that you can have love without Truth or that we can have Truth without love...Viktor Frankl who was an Austrian neurologist and psychiatrist, as well as a Holocaust survivor said this about love and truth..."A thought transfixed me: for the first time in my life, I saw the truth as it is set into song by so many poets, proclaimed as the final wisdom by so many thinkers...The truth - that love is the ultimate and the highest goal to which man can aspire."...
Jesus ties together love and truth in His teachings...No one has tied love and truth together like He does...Jesus told His Disciples that He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life...He says that He came to earth to testify to the Truth...He says that He is Truth...He is Absolute Truth...Jesus told His Disciples that as His Father has LOVED Him, He has LOVED them...So He asked them to remain in His LOVE...And He told them that if they remain in His LOVE, just as He has kept His Father’s commands and has remained in His LOVE, they would remain in His LOVE...He told His Disciples this so that His joy may be in His Disciples and that their joy might become complete...He gave them this command: Love each other as I have LOVED you...Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends...His Disciples were His friends if they would do what He had taught them...He no would no longer call them servants, because a servant does not know His master’s business...Instead, He now would call them friends, for everything that He learned from God, He had made known to His Disciples...His Disciples did not choose Jesus, but He chose them and appointed them so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and teach other what He taught them...So that whatever they ask in His name, God the Father would give them...This is My command: Love each other...
These thoughts above are transfixing and eternal...Jesus taught His Disciples and us about love and truth in some of His last commands and teachings to His Disciples before He was arrested and put on the cross to die for mankind's sins...Jesus dying on the cross out of His LOVE for us and His showing us mercy forever by forgiving us of our sins ties LOVE and Truth together eternally...
