John 14:6
The Truth
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
John 16:13
Spirit of Truth
13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.
John 18:37
Testifying to The Truth
37 “You are a king, then!” said Pilate.
Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”
Matthew 1:23
God With Us
23 "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel"—which means, "God with us."
Is Jesus a truth or The Truth?...There is a difference...But Truth is difficult to understand, because most of see truth as relative...And when you thing that Truth is relatively simple it becomes more and more complex...
We learn from St. Matthew that God is with us that a virgin would birth a Child, and they would call Him Immanuel...Immanuel means God with us...So if we believe the gospel Jesus and God are with us...That is a truth taught in the New Testament gospel...
We want to get to the Truth in our lives...The Truth is what you want to believe in...Why believe in anything, if it is not True...
Jesus told His Disciples and us that He is the Truth, the Way, and the Life...Then He tells us that He will send us the Holy Spirit, or the Spirit of Truth, so we on earth will be guided toward the truth...The Spirit of Truth is our connection with God...It is our relationship with God, and a feeling of sorts...But the Holy Spirit is indwelt with reason and purpose by Jesus...We are guided in our life to the truth by the Spirit of Truth to The Truth...And Jesus tells Pilate and us before His crucifixion and His death that the reason He was born and had come into our world was to testify to the truth...And the Holy Spirit is how God is with us...God's Spirit is with us...And Jesus too, is with us with His Father and the Holy Spirit...
Jesus wants us to realize that He is the Truth, and He is the only One who stands between us and the Father...No one can get to the Father, except through Jesus...There is no other choice, no other way...This is either the Truth or it is not...This cannot be a truth, because Jesus uses the word except in John 14:6...Jesus could have said you can get to the Father through Me...That would have left us wiggle room to say and think that we could get to God through the Son as well as other ways...Our search for The Truth leads us to God through Jesus...God so loves the world that He sends His only begotten Son, as His (God the Father) mediator for us, that if we believe in the Son, and the One who sent Him (the One who sent Him is the Father), we will have eternal life...There is a connection for us with the Father and the Son...
This gets confusing, but is helped out by knowing something about the Trinity...But the Trinity is also confusing...The Trinity teaches the unity of God the Father, and Jesus is the Son, and the Holy Spirit is in us...As St. John tells us anyone who obeys His word, God's love is truly made in complete in him...This is how we know we are in Him (1 John 2:5)...God is love...God has always existed...God existed before man...C. S. Lewis and Peter Kreeft explains for God to be Love, He would have had to have One to Love, a Beloved, and the actual relationship and feelings of love...The Trinity represents all these things...God is the Father, who loves the Son, and somehow the Spirit of Truth in both God and Jesus are flowing through to us to form the third part of the Trinity...The use of the words flowing through us is powerful...Love is like an energy...God is like the energy of Pure Love...This is complicated because God is complex...But because He is with us, and we are created out of His image, we are a part of this Trinity...The third part of the Trinity, the flowing relationship and actual love feelings are difficult to explain...But if we take God and Jesus out of the discussion and try to write about how love feels, or how one feels about their spouse and their love, that also becomes difficult...So when we add Jesus and God back into the discussion and God's Greatness and Al-mightiness complexity, it becomes even more difficult (very difficult) to explain...
But just because it is difficult to understand and explain, does not make it not true...And one may need to bring in faith to believe, and to help with the understanding part...Faith goes beyond your own understanding...That is why sometimes, we hear the term leap of faith...If we can use our faith, to get us past the understanding issues, it may assist us to find The Truth in the Trinity...We, sometimes, have to go beyond our own personal understandings and include faith to get to and find THE TRUTH...
