John 1:1-18
Jesus is the Word of God and the Word is God
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness, to bear witness about the light, that all might believe through him.8 He was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light.
9 The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. 11 He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him.12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, 13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. 15 (John bore witness about him, and cried out, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me ranks before me, because he was before me.’”) 16 For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. 17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father's side,[f] he has made him known.
John 14:6-7
Jesus is Truth
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
John 16:13-15
The Holy Spirit Guides Us to the Truth
13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14 He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. 15 All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.”
John 17:3
Jesus on Eternal Life
3 And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.
Jeremiah 29:13
Seek God with Your Heart
13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
Mark 12:28-34
The Greatest Commandment
28 One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”
29 “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”
32 “Well said, teacher,” the man replied. “You are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but him. 33 To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.”
34 When Jesus saw that he had answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And from then on no one dared ask him any more questions.
Jesus does not say believe in Me without proof or believe in Me without thinking, or believe in Me without love...He wants to be found...He wants the Truth to be found...Jesus gives us different things to find Him and His Father...
Man seeks God, the Word of God, and we seek Truth...Jesus said He is Truth...And there is this way to find the Truth...He also tells us that He is the only way to the Truth of God...No one comes to the Father except through Him...If you want to find God and to get to know Him you must seek Him...To find God, we must go through Jesus and get to know Him...And Jesus relates eternal life to Him and His Father...Jesus says this, "And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent."...
Before Jesus came to earth, the Prophet Jeremiah wrote that if we seek God, we will find Him by using our hearts...
Jesus tells us that the LORD our God, the LORD is one...He is telling us that there is no other God, besides Him, and that the God of Israel is the Only True God...Jesus, in a much related teaching to that of Jeremiah, tells us that the Greatest Commandment is to "Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’...The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’...There is no commandment greater than these."...
By saying what Jesus said, He is teaching us that there are greater commandments than others...And that love is involved in the Great Commandments, and to have love (and to love God and neighbor) , we must use our hearts...So when we are seeking God, we are to use our hearts...We can find God though love...And the Greatest Commandment is about love, and we learn from Jesus that by loving the LORD our God with all of our heart and our soul, and our mind, and with all our strength, and loving our neighbor as ourselves we find this Greatest Commandment in the Bible...When we combine what Jeremiah wrote with what Jesus said -we see that it takes love in our hearts to find the Truth about Him and to believe in Him...It not only might take our minds, but something else like strength, and souls to find Him...But it seems God is very much related and found in the heart...And by giving us this Great Commandment we see that there might be other ways we might use to find Him...
And in saying what Jesus said, we are to use mind, heart, soul, and our strength to find Him and to know God...There is much more to us than just our mind and thoughts, But we are not to leave out the power of reason to get to know His Father...So the non-believer can you reason along with these other things to find Him...We need the knowledge of our minds to believe in God...We search and are guided to the Truth by the soul, where the indwelt Holy Spirit is...So as we seek God and the Truth we must also not only use our minds to find Him, but also use our hearts...
Believer and non-believer should use all these things to find God and His Son...Anyone who believes or doesn't believe should not only let reason help find the facts and lead where they lead, but also we must listen to the heart and to the soul...If something you have found with your mind, or heart, or soul, are leading or pulling you to Jesus, then we must be willing to acknowledge those things to figure out the Truth about Jesus...
