John 17:13-19
God's Word is Truth
13"I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them. 14I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. 15My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. 16They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. 17Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. 18As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. 19For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.
John 18:36-38
Jesus and Truth
36Jesus said, "My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jews. But now my kingdom is from another place."
37"You are a king, then!" said Pilate.
Jesus answered, "You are right in saying I am a king. In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me."
38"What is truth?" Pilate asked.
1 Chronicles 28:9
Seek God
9 “And you, my son Solomon, acknowledge the God of your father, and serve him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the LORD searches every heart and understands every motive behind the thoughts. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will reject you forever.
Matthew 22:34-40
The Greatest Commandment
34Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question:
36"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
Two thousand years ago a Man stood up and said I AM Truth...Jesus spoke so much on both truth and love...Truth and love are very much related...
Jesus spoke always the truth, and He spoke much about Him and His Father being the Truth...Yet, there are many non-believers who do not believe in this Truth...Many do not believe, because they do not see prayers answered immediately (if at all), or they view Him as hiding, and/or they would like to see a modern miracle...There are other reasons people do not believe but these three would ones that if they (the non-believer) seem something everyday in one or more of these categories, they would believe...Some would believe in Him, if their was no pain or no evil...
Why doesn't a loving God show Himself everyday, and prove to His children, that yes, I AM here...Believers must seek Him and search for the truth...The aging King David, told His son Solomon that if he searched for the LORD, he would find Him...God knows our motives and thoughts...But by that same reasoning, God is found in our motives, our hearts, and in our thinking...Jesus tells us to love God with all our heart, all our soul, and all our mind...We cannot love Him first without thinking about Him...God has to exist in our thoughts and our minds for us to love Him...So believers and non-believers too, should seek Him with all the minds, and their hearts, their souls, and their strength, if they expect to find Him...Then the Father and the Son will be in their thoughts, and all people will have an opinion about Them...
But having an opinion of someone or something does not make one believe...When you read the Bible, you can believe it is true, or it is false, or it is partially true, and partially false...You should not base your beliefs on whether you like the writings or stories in the Bible, but base them on whether you think they are true or not true...As you read through the Gospels and the New Testament, Jesus puts most of the Old Testament into context...He speaks the mind of God...He speaks for God...
What is truth, or what is the truth IS the basic question...The basis for me in believing in God is in the four gospels...Was Jesus with God in the beginning, and did He become flesh and walk with us and His Twelve Disciples?...If He did this then this is the Truth...He was the One to come, our Messiah, and the One to come to our Second Advent...When you believe something you believe it, because it is true, not because you like it or don't like it...Why else, believe in anything if it is not true...Jesus teaches us to seek God and then to think about God, with our minds, our strength, our bodies, and our souls...I have read the Bible many times, and I have never felt Jesus lied about anything...
Jesus tells us to use our minds and find faith...Then after thoroughly studying the Word, the history (for instance) including Josephus, Tacitus, Pliny the Younger outside the Bible (or whatever other materials we want to study), we can make up our minds about the truth...We need both our mind and our heart to find truth...But only believe in something, because it is Truth...
