John 17:17
God's Word is Truth
17 Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.
Scripture tells us that God's Word is Truth...We learn that Jesus is full of Grace and Truth...Jesus came out one day and said the He is the Truth, the Way and the Life...He said that when we follow His Teachings, then we follow the Truth, and His Truth will set us free...And He tells us that He came to earth to testify to the Truth...Jesus teaches us that He and His Father are the Absolute Truths...So Truth is holy and sacred...
What is surprising is that as we age and start to grow up and start to experience new things and in trying to become educated, we are really searching for the Truth...Parents send their children in most societies to school to be educated to learn about Truth...Even those places with no schools they seek to know different things about life, and learn to grow around what is Truth and what is right...The what is surprising aspect is that we often lose track of that we are seeking knowledge to get to wisdom to find the Truth...
Truth becomes complicated and gets intertwined with beliefs, a person's worldview, and with morality...We sometimes look for our own truths to be comfortable and right...We do not like to be told we are wrong...I once had a person tell me that the person who asks tough questions, often has few friends as they seek the Truth...He said hard questions make others feel uncomfortable when they do not know the correct answer...
High Schools and Colleges are supposed to educate us in the Truth...Our different experiences also help us find Truth...Yet, when we get in our different classes and throughout our lives and our different experiences, we learn that truth becomes more individually based and that truth becomes less objective and more subjective...Truth becomes less Absolute and more relative to each person...Truth even becomes less exclusive...It sometimes seems people turn the search for Truth, in a search in what is comfortable for me...The Truth for the different students might find one sitting in the same class different views on Truth...A view, and especially an opinion, is not necessarily the Truth...Then one has to ask if this is Truth if it is not the same for all people...The Truth is exclusive, just like the color green is green and not red...Truth has to be exclusive because all things are not the Truth...And Truth is the same yesterday, today, and in the future...Truth being exclusive and never changing makes whatever opposes it not true and a lie...So one should ask how can Truth not be the same for all students and for all time...
Just repeating the same view or same sentences or ideas does not make it a Truth...This kind of Truth is changing back to their belief and can lead us away from the Truth...When one says an untruth so often and it becomes so common, then their truth can easily become an untruth...But hearing something over and over again is not make something true that is a lie...But some people think they can find truth in repetition...But repetition does not make truths...So what is true for one if Truth becomes more of a belief or opinion and maybe even a hope, if one goes around constantly repeating a falsehood, that they want to believe...But a belief, and opinion, and hope are not necessarily truth...
People may have a belief that is a different belief from others...But their beliefs are not necessarily the Truth...But truth becomes relative truth for many individuals...Then we can see how we wind up with many truths and not just One Absolute Truth...And if there are many truths and there are different truths out there, there is no One Absolute Truth...Truth is becoming more and more inclusive and therefore some believe that we can find there are many truths, or many beliefs...If this is true then Truth becomes diluted and Truth is not Truth at all, but a lot of different beliefs and opinions of individual people...Many want to find there own personal truths and many want many truths, which are more their worldview, than the Truth...And then when this happens, it seems that people seek people who believe what they believe and want others to believe in their truth and truths...God has determined that our secrets will all be uncovered, and the Truth will come forth, and all of God's thoughts about every behavior and action will be found right...
Truth is very much linked to moral values...When truth becomes so diluted, we too must ask how our personal morals become our views and beliefs...Good morals are linked to Truths...So then we can see how our own personal answers on school tests are not necessarily the right ones, and the answers on these tests are just our personal answers...If morals do not relate to the Truth, why not just copy someone else's answers if there are many truths, since there are many right answers...In this, not so good example, we see how morals and truth are related but not the same...If my answer is right and their answer if right, where is the Absolute, Exclusive Right Answer and Truth...
But Truth is exclusive...For example, one plus one equals two and the answer two is exclusive and absolute...The point in learn is to seek the Truth and seek Wisdom...Do we all have and possess the Truth?...The answer is no, and Truth and gathering of knowledge to Wisdom is Exclusive and Absolute...Yet, when we listen and read about Jesus, Truth is a Person and Absolute Truth is Jesus...
Wisdom flows from seeing God for who He is, and responding with faith to God appropriately....The knowledge of the Holy One is our insight to Wisdom...The fear of God is not only a fear of His Greatness that we find hard to grasp, but more this sense of His Awe, His Complete Understanding of all things, and being Sovereign...I can see how the writer of Proverbs believed that the fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding...This teaches us that the fear of God is foundational to the Truth and to True Wisdom...Different types of learning are only a beginning and notwithstanding unless built upon a knowledge and belief of the LORD...In the fear of the LORD we find Absolute Truth...
