Titus 1:1-4
The Hope of Eternal Life
1 Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ to further the faith of God’s elect and their knowledge of the truth that leads to godliness— 2 in the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time, 3 and which now at his appointed season he has brought to light through the preaching entrusted to me by the command of God our Savior,
4 To Titus, my true son in our common faith:
Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior.
Hebrews 6:13-20
Hope is the Anchor to Our Soul
13 When God made his promise to Abraham, since there was no one greater for him to swear by, he swore by himself, 14 saying, “I will surely bless you and give you many descendants.” 15 And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised.
16 People swear by someone greater than themselves, and the oath confirms what is said and puts an end to all argument. 17 Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath. 18 God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged. 19 We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, 20 where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.
John 14:1-4
Jesus Words Comforts His Disciples and Us
1 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going.”
John 17:3
Jesus Says Eternal Life is Knowing God and Knowing Him
3 Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
There is this obvious huge contrast in the atheist and one who believes in God...The atheist has no hope of living after he dies...While the believer believes we live on and have eternal life...
Believers have this hope of eternal life which God who does not lie, promised us before the beginning of time...And this hope of eternal life is one of the great and sacred hopes of the believer and is the anchor to my soul...For those who believe in God believe that His promise to Abraham still lives today...God has made that clear to the descendants of Abraham that His oath is still a promise of today...When God made His promise to Abraham, there was no one greater for Him to swear by, so He swore by Himself, saying, “I will surely bless you and give you many descendants.”...And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised...People often swear by someone greater than themselves, and the oath of God confirms what is said and puts an end to all arguments...Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of His purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, He confirmed it with an oath...God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, therefore believers hold on to the hope set long ago so that we maybe greatly encouraged...Two unchangeable things are here...Number one, God does not lie...And our hope number two...Our hope remains unchangeable...We have this hope as an anchor for the soul...This hope is firm and secure...This hope for us enters the inner Holy sanctuary behind the curtain, where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf...He has become The High Priest forever...God's oath to Abraham gives us great hope of an eternal future...
So the covenant to Abraham continues, and gives the believer this great hope of an eternal future...This hope includes our Forerunner Jesus, and meeting Him and His Father in heaven...Comparing the believer's hope to the atheist's hope we see very much this contrast...What does the atheist have in his future and his family's future?...How can he hope, as death envelopes each of us?...The non-believer's hope is one of earth and the majesty of man...His death will conclude his life and he will be done...While the believer believes he will be reborn and be with Jesus and His Father...
For Jesus tells us to take comfort for He has gone to heaven...He told His Disciples and us -don’t let your hearts be troubled...He is saying keep having this great unchangeable hope...Trust in God, and also trust in Me...There are many rooms in His Father’s house; He would not have told us this, if it were not true...A lot of Jesus' teachings were about Truth...And Jesus, like God, does not lie...He has went to heaven and has prepared a place for those who believe in Him...After He left and ascended to heaven, He prepared a place for His Disciples...He will come back and take all His believers to this place with many rooms...We know the place where He said He was going...We call it heaven...
Jesus tells us to trust in God, but to trust also in Him...He has went to heaven to prepare a place for those who believe in Him...There is such a remarkable and stark difference in what Jesus tells us, and what the atheist tells us...The atheist's life is done at death...Eternal life is a new and great beginning...And Jesus is my great hope...
