John 3:16-18
God LOVES the World and Sent His Son to Save Us
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
Mark 2:15-17
Jesus Came for Sinners
15 While Jesus was having dinner at Levi’s house, many tax collectors and sinners were eating with him and his disciples, for there were many who followed him. 16 When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
17 On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
John 11:21-27
Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life
21 “Lord,” Martha said to Jesus, “if you had been here, my brother would not have died. 22 But I know that even now God will give you whatever you ask.”
23 Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.”
24 Martha answered, “I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.”
25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
27 “Yes, Lord,” she replied, “I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.”
John 17:3
Believing and Knowing God and His Son are Eternal Life
3 Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
Acts 4:12
Salvation is Found Only in Jesus
12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.
Jesus makes it right with God for us...His death on the cross saves us...He is our Savior...We are sinners...Jesus makes that clear to us...He came for sinners, and came to die for us and to save us...And by dying for us He has somehow made us right with God...He truly is the Resurrection and the Life...After He resurrected, He came back to life and His dying gives us eternal life -if we believe in Him and that the gospel and these things in the four gospels happened...
C. S. Lewis put it this way, "The central Christian belief is that Christ's death has somehow put us right with God and given us a fresh start...Theories as to how it did this are another matter...A good many different theories have been held as to how it works; what all Christians are agreed on is that it does work...I will tell you what I think it is like...A man can eat his dinner without understanding exactly how food nourishes him...A man can accept what Christ has done without knowing how it works: indeed, he certainly would not know how it works until he has accepted it...We are told that Christ was killed for us, that His death has washed out our sins, and that by dying He disabled death itself...That is the formula...That is Christianity...That is what has to be believed...Any theories we build up as to how Christ’s death did all this are, in my view, quite secondary: mere plans or diagrams to be left alone if they do not help us, and, even if they do help us, not to be confused with the thing itself...All the same, some of these theories are worth looking at."...
Salvation is found in no other name...
