John 14:6
Jesus Says, I AM Truth
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
John 1:1-14
Jesus is the True Light
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
6 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. 8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.
9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 18:36-38
What is Truth
36 Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.”
37 “You are a king, then!” said Pilate.
Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”
38 “What is truth?” retorted Pilate. With this he went out again to the Jews gathered there and said, “I find no basis for a charge against him.
Matthew 22:16
Jesus Teaches About Truth
16 They sent their disciples to him along with the Herodians. "Teacher," they said, "we know you are a man of integrity and that you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. You aren't swayed by men, because you pay no attention to who they are.
John 8:31-32
Knowing the Truth Shall Set You Free
31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
John 17:17
The Truth is Also God's Word
17 Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.
Matthew 24:35
Jesus Words Are Sanctified and Truth and Will Never Pass Away
35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
What is Truth is a very good question...Jesus stood up two thousand years ago and said He is Truth...Jesus said much about Truth...And when we listen to His Truth we will be set free...Jesus is the True Light and the only True Light in the world...Believing that Jesus is Truth is something absolute, exclusive, and is universal...Jesus came to earth to testify to the Truth...And everyone on the side of truth listens to Jesus...He said everyone on the side of Truth listens to Him, not just a few, or many, or almost all men...He said everyone...So believing that He is the Absolute Truth, and the Exclusive Truth, and a Universal Truth takes faith...Faith that He was with God in the beginning, that He was in heaven, that He did become flesh, full of Grace and Truth...
It sometimes takes faith to believe in things that we believe are true...Or to say it another way, it takes faith to believe in Truth, the One Absolute Truth...What we know and what we believe in often become our truths...
Jesus knew that man takes Truth and what he sees and makes them his facts...Then man makes his facts and truths personal...Man sees the world through his earthly eyes, mulls what he sees and his truths around in his mind and believes that something is true...So instead of Truth being unbiased and nonjudgmental, each of us sees Truth through our own eyes and makes it personal, instead of universal...Truth has as much to do with the way we think, as it does reality...Truth links and connects each of our thoughts to the realities of the world...But each of us are different and think differently and Truth can become gray, instead of black and white...If one believes this, then each man's thoughts and how the individual man connects his thoughts to the real world, puts a slightly different shade or variant on the truth...It is hard for all men to have One Exclusive Truth...Yet, there is One Exclusive Truth -No one gets to God, except through Jesus...And by Truth's very nature of being universal, it must be exclusive...
While teaching, Jesus challenged us to believe in His Father...He also wants us to believe He came from heaven and has been with His Father for quite some time...Jesus shows us the paradox of Truth...If something is true, it must be true for everyone...This is because Truth does not contradict....Truth is exclusive...For something to be true, it must be universal...By Jesus saying He is Truth, He is saying that He is the Universal Truth...For this to be true, everyone must believe in Him and that He is Truth, and what He says and what He said is Truth...For if what He did is not Truth, or what He said is not Truth, then He cannot be Truth, let alone be our Universal Truth...What we think about what He said and what He did gives us our thoughts and ideas (about Him),and if we are going to believe in Him, and that He is, in fact, Truth...
And to continue this paradox of Truth, we find that in Him and in His Truth that there is wonder, humility, and great mystery in Truth...In coming to believe that Jesus is Truth, we sometimes struggle with that...How can Truth be wonderment and mystery...To believe that He is Truth for the last two thousand years takes faith...Faith is very much linked to Truth...How can it not be, if Jesus is Truth...In our faith, we find Truth... And even after two thousand years we sometimes we still try to replace doubt with Truth...But through the years of struggling with Truth and seeking Truth and many trying to say He is just a myth and not the Truth, He is still here, and His Truths are still here...
