John 14:27 (KJV)
Jesus Kind of Peace
27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
John 17:13-19
Jesus Prays for His Disciples and Says God's Word is Truth
13 “I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them. 14 I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. 15 My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. 17 Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. 18 As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. 19 For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.
Matthew 22:34-40
The Greatest Commandment
34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question:
36 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37 Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
Matthew 7:24-29
A Foundation that Survives
24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”
28 When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, 29 because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.
The peace that Jesus brings is not of the earth and of this world, but it is from above...It is a peace for those who believe in God and Jesus...It is thus, a peace for those who believe in the Divine, because it is not of this world but a peace from above...It is a peace that comes from the Truth that comes from God and His Word...God's Word is Truth, and His Truth brings us a peace, when we follow it...And if we are able, and do our best to always tell the Truth as Jesus did, our conscience is free from guilt, because we speak the Truth...And a conscience free from guilt is a peaceful one...
Jesus says that there is this peace that He gives us that Only He gives, and that this peace is not of this world...And Jesus talks about the foundation of believing in God and puts His Words into practice then we can get to peace in this world, despite going through the storms of life...This foundation gives life a purpose for us, which leads to us caring about others and about being more forgiving to others and being merciful...Without a purpose we can feel isolated, often think in the negative, feel alone with ourselves, and be detached from life...This feeling of being isolated and inadequate can change, if we are a part of a fellowship that He teaches...It is like His first fellowship He had when He was with His Original Disciples teaching and giving them advice and wisdom on God, life, and the Way to live...The Disciples learned much about both God and about Him...These lessons He taught His Disciples have lived on, and further the argument for a purpose in life...The Disciples went on to carry His teachings all over the world and to bring this peace to others...And by reaching out to others, we have a friendship and a fellowship...This fellowship (when we are in fellowship with our neighbors) as He had with His Disciples and others, and with others helps bring us a feeling we are needed and wanted...And as we follow His Word and put them in practice, we want others to learn about Him and His teachings...And this focus on Jesus and His teachings help us overcome our own sufferings and our own inadequacies, when we trust and believe that God and His Son are in control...
These teachings of Jesus bring a sense of belonging with others, that life is not empty, a foundation to our daily life, and a better seen purpose of life...
